D53 and D54 PROBLEMS
To find the maximum moment in the beam loaded with distributed and concentrated load, we must follow the step by step below:
1 - Make the free body diagram (d.c.l.).
🔴 Don't know how to do d.c.l.? Then watch this video 👇
• Como Fazer o DIAGRAMA ...
2 - Find the reactions in the supports applying the equilibrium equations.
3 - Once the reactions in the supports have been determined, we must find the function of the internal moment acting in the section of the beam where the distributed load acts.
4 - When deriving the moment function equaling it to zero, it is possible to find at which point within this section the moment is maximum, respecting the function limit. Substitute the value of x in the moment function to find the maximum moment within the section where the load distributed on the beam acts.
5 - Use the section method to find the moment value at the point where the concentrated load acts on the beam.
6 - Now that we know all the moment values in the beam (within the range of the distributed load and where the concentrated load acts), the maximum bending moment acting on the beam will be the highest absolute value among them.
