Nice. Love the seamless burp! Bought my 1st one of these doohickies today. I’ll use your method with my indoor digital thermostat. God Bless!

The error of looking at the needle at an angle versus looking at it straight on is called parallax error.

1:15 Happened to me too. It was like 40 or 50 degrees outside and I pressed it against a dark surface that had direct sunlight and it went up to 130 probably.

You can also do that the little brace around the shaft just turn it nedile moves also depending we're you put the where do you put the thermometer can effect temperature should be 5 feet off the ground not to close to a surface and not near shiny surface sun reflect can affect temperature and if on cold surface can affect and 6 feet different placement temperature can be different as I have one on porch and one facing bedroom window about 8 to 10 degrees different ps hold by the outer edge other wise may pick up your body's heat

i have a really old Springfield outdoor dial thermometer. it has the same spring coil this one has, but no shaft pointing out through the back. id guess i would just turn the dial if it is off.

Also, you have to account for skewing across temperature ranges vs. just calibrating it at one temperature. Cheaper digital thermometers are often not much more accurate; see percentage range in their specs, e.g. 1% across x-range.

way and go get a good multimeter then you'll have a thermometer that you can move around to where ever you want it to be and you'll always have the right temperture.
@James-48124 жыл бұрын
I find it very hard to calibrate a thermometer, because obviously when you're holding it in your hand, it picks up heat then it's very hard to judge exactly how much you need to move the needle, because the needle itself is moving due to the heat from your hands... I've tried this many times with my analogue thermometer & it NEVER matches the temperature of another calibrated thermometer.

Than hold them with wool gloves or other stuff that don't conduct heat good. 😊
@DefundTheFringes Жыл бұрын
If you do it fast enough that shouldn't be a problem, but they can vary depending on the temperature range, so it's a balance between setting it at 80F and 40F, etc. As for the reference unit, just because a thermometer is digital doesn't make it more accurate if it's cheap.

My thermometer does not have a protruding shaft to turn. It has a hole and something rectangular inside. Why don't you consider buying several different types and showing us how to do them?
