I have Imovie and using firewire and plugs into USBA to USBC adapter. Does USBA support dv transfer?

Hi. Thanks for the comment! I don’t believe USBA support dv transfer. There are FireWire to USB adapters on the market but I don’t think those adapters support DV transfer.

Apple have discontinued the Apple A1463 Thunderbolt to FireWire 800 Adapter (MD464LL/A) do you have any other suggestions on what to use instead?

Hello. Thanks for bringing this to my attention. I was not aware that Apple stop selling the Thunderbolt to Firewire 800 adapter. You can try checking other stores like Adorama, B&H photo, or eBay to see if they are selling it. The other method is to use the composite connection (yellow, red, white cable) or s-video from your camera and connect it to an USB video capture card. Although that won't be capturing in DV quality.

Hello sir do you need a video editor?

Hello. Thanks for the comment! If you want to edit the video after capturing it, then you will need a video editor. OBS studios doesn't have video editing capabilites.

Hello. You don't need a video editor in order to capture your mini dv tapes. The OBS studios software is a recorder. OBS studios captures your mini dv tapes and records them. After it records it makes the video into a mp4 file. If you want to cut out/remove certain parts of the mp4 video after you have recorderd with OBS studios, then you will need to use a video editing software such as iMovie, Capcut, or other video softwares that will give you the ability to cut your videos. I hope this helps!
