Hi! Today I’m explaining how you can carry your gold items from india to #Canada as a PR. I personally faced a lot of confusion over this and I was pretty stressed till I landed and my procedure was complete. So I thought I would explain my learnings from how to get your gold to Canada after you get your PR.

What about gold bullion of 10 tola? Can we take it to Canada and sell it there as we might need money for settlement funds?

Mam,there is a provision also to provide a list of things to be brought in to Canada at a later date.This is a recorded document at the customs & a copy of the stamped list is handed back on the first entry as P.R.

That’s correct. I didn’t have anything to be brought into Canada at a later date, so I didn’t fill it out.

Hi! Great video and really helpful. I have a question. If we are doing a soft landing for PR stamping but coming back a few months later to settle, can we inform immigration officer about this at the first entry and then bring the gold evaluation documents at the time of hard-landing in the second round?

Unfortunately it’s just the first landing in which you’re allowed to bring in gold without getting into customes

Anything less than $10,000 CAD is not a problem. Even 1 dollar over, and it’s best to declare it :) if you’re worried, you can always carry the bill for this earring. But as far as I’m aware, it should be okay 👍🏼

So for me, no one checks you to see what worth of stuff you’re carrying. In Canada too, not everyone is searched.. they just randomly select people for checking.. so it’s always best to just be honest and then it’s a super easy process. So the 10,000 CAD they check for in Canada.

Hi Sukh , Was just seeing your video for the jewellery evaluation seems really helpful. Quick question that do we need to get it stamped and signed from the evaluator or just take the picture and the value on inr and cad will be helpful . Would you be able to tell from where did you got it done just for reference.

When you go to a person asking for evaluation, they’ll guide you how they want the photo ms to be taken. I didn’t take the bills with me.

I think the 10k limit will apply to you as you are not coming to Canada as a PR. Im not sure though. Its best to ask a consultant :)

If you’re landing for the first time as a PR, You can bring whatever amount you want but you have to declare it. There’s no extra tax or duty on it :)

@@sukhmanikahlon I am going there in a visitor/tourist visa for a wedding of my relative and then I will be returning. So, I am guessing if my limit exceeds $10k, I will be paying some duty? Would help if you have the answer to that. I have researched a lot online and on Canadian immigration website but unable to find a conclusive answer from a reliable source.

If your PR process is almost done, it's easier to be done with it and then come to Canada as a PR. As far as I know, there is no restriction on carrying jewellery on a Tourist Visa. But of course as a PR, you can carry however much you like and it won't attract customs as long as you declare everything.

Hi! As far as I’m aware, the benefit of first time landing is only applicable to PRs but you should definitely confirm with a professional. Whatever you wear is not counted towards the 10,000 CAD for anyone landing in Canada. But above 10,000 CAD for people other than PRs landing for the first time, I think it must be declared.

If you are converting your Indian rupees into Canadian dollars and bringing them in to Canada with you, the limit is 10,000 Canadian dollars.

You can definitely get any jewelry that you had previously declared in your first landing, plus up to 10,000 CAD worth when you’re coming back to canada. I’m not sure if you can take your wife’s jewellery and to what limit, since you are not going on PR. You can wear your chain ring etc. no one asks about what you are wearing.

Day that it is evaluated. Basically the picture of a necklace for eg. And below it, description (necklace), weight in grams (for eg 120 grams) and then INR and then CAD value

Students don’t have this advantage of carrying as much gold as possible. I cant say for sure as I don’t have any experience in this regard

Thanks for watching, hope you subscribe! :) So, as far as I know, it’s only the first landing in which you can declare as much as you’d like and be exempt from the tax. Of course if the gold you are planning to bring is within 10,000 CAD, you wouldn’t need to declare. And the gold that you were wearing doesn’t need to be declared either.

First, see how much it is in Canadian Dollars. If it is more than 10,000 CAD, You have to declare it.

If you’re going first time as PR and the gold biscuit is worth less than 10,000 CAD, you can carry it. Otherwise also you can carry it but then you need to get it evaluated and declare it when you land.
