Thank you so much for actually having a clear shot of your hands, using big needles/thread and going very slowly! Watching other tutorials, I couldn't work out where I was going wrong, but this video showed it clearly

Thank you. This was the clearest example of a casting on video I found. Many others I watched did not make it clear which threads to thread through, and went too quickly. I'm going to check out the rest of your channel. I'm sure I'll be making some of your projects.

Ginormous thank you for really clear close up no nonsense instructions, best video showing the long tail cast on I’ve seen. I have visual impairment so clear uncluttered video together with your voice helped a lot. I can do it fluently now.

I purchased a new kit and I'm supposed to cast on 68 stitches and leave a 20 inch tail. I measured out 20 inches before making the slipknot and am not able to get anywhere near 68 stitches. How do I measure the tail to make sure I can get the 68 stitches? Thanks! This video is great

Jennifer Lancaster The rule of thumb is - tail should be 3x longer than your finished project. For example, if you need 20” then tail should be 60” long

Hi! Is the slip knot considered the first stitch? For instance, I"m working on a pattern that says stitch 50 stitches using long tail cast on - is that slip knot the first stitch?

Cut it to about 6" (once you are sure you that you won't need to take it off and restart), weave that part in. If you have a good bit of yarn left that has been cut off maybe use it in a scrapy project, ir for some embroidery, toss it or learn to spin an utilize it there!
