that first cat was HUGE!!!!

I waded into a Florida lake through the reeds, in early Spring, with my Dad when 11 years old and caught a fine 5 pounds or so big mouth bass. That fish is still on my wall because my Dad was the major fisherman. Got my picture in the paper and everything. We took the dog who hated water but launched himself into the reeds with us. Good boy! He grabbed that fish when I reeled it into the reeds and he didn't make a mark on that fish. That dog got a nice piece of fish and steak with his dinner that evening. Oh, he was a mixed breed Dalmation and Lab.

Nice cat! I cut up some shad into big chunks, put them in a coffee can, then pour a couple cups of olive oil on them and one half cup of minced garlic, then let it sit in the refrigerator for a couple days. It makes some amazing catfish bait...mostly catch channel cats and blues, but they're always big. Usually 25 to 40 pounds. Caught quite a few that were in the 60 pound range too. I reckon that the garlic smell is what turns em on...but not sure.

I found you about 3 Catfish videos ago, If there's one thing I love it's a Man who knows his enemy. You Sir are a Master, I've only seen my younger brother catch Cats like that and always been amazed by it. I'm the Old Bank Fisherman. I'll sit there for hours, the peace the Sun most of the time the smell of the Water. Just don't act fast enough and miss far more than I hook. Mr. Machine, a few words of advice, when big fish fishing like this video is showing. Please use a 10 or 12 foot long lanyard tied to the handle of your poles and then to the solid heavy anchor of your choice, this will save the loss of your equipment from being yanked or pulled into the water. This has saved my loss of many of rods and reels while bank fishing for big redfish.

Something I've realized. It doesn't matter what you throw at them, it's all about where and when you fish. Finding a good spot is the single most important step. What you fish with may matter or it may not.
