Changing my Ford Ranger spark plugs after 40,000 miles! I just wanted to see how they looked and show you how to do it.

You should use anti. sieze. I've worked on cars for 40 years and never had a problem using it. They say it can affect the torque, but if you've changed enough of them you get a feel for it. Don't take my word for it, Ford tech makuloco on youtube says to use it. Watch his videos. He's a Ford Tech and really knows his stuff. Everyone has their own way of doing things. I use it and it's never been a problem.

I did mine based on these instructions. Because I have short arms I had to climb on the engine and didn’t push the boot all the way down on plugs in cylinders 3 and 4. So don’t be fooled, make sure it’s pushed all the way down on the plugs.

I got a check engine light after I changed my spark plugs on my 2019 Ranger. Did you have the same problem?

I rarely use anti sieze. If it's an older motor with an iron head I'll use a very small amount of copper based anti sieze, but aluminum based anti sieze only gunks up threads worse when exposed to heat over time. I'd say unless the threads feel rough when removing the plug I won't use it. I may when it comes to the ranger if there's a lot of carbon on the threads like that, but it's not necessary at all.

Great Video! Mine just hit 100k and I think I'm done taking it to the dealer for every single repair or maintenance.

Blur the video more I could almost see what you’re doing

Looks like your were correct in not using anti-sieze if these plugs have shiny threads. according to some youtubes. Chance of over torqueing with the anti-sieze.

I always use anti seize when replacing plugs. It’s not worth skimping out on it or you’ll curse yourself out when you go to remove next time.

This is a wonderful video. I find a lot of repair/ maintenance videos (anything from mowers, vehicles, to guns) just start working on the problem at hand without proper explanation of what they are doing, why they are doing it, the things they had to do to get to where they are, and the tools they are using and instead opt for technical lingo people "in the industry" already know so newbies are left out. im sure someone who hasnt popped their hood before could easily figure out what to do with your explanations. Wonderful job!

Just changed my spark plugs @ 34,302. 2 of them were corroded pretty bad. I will be changing them again at 60,000 miles. Thanks for putting this video up. It was easy.

Clicked on the vid for advice for that 4th plug (back), and your vid helped me solve that issue. Thx.

Were they changed before the catch can? Wonder will there be a difference with the can? Great video by the way. Take care.

Just did mine after 100k mikes. Looked actually pretty good. Probably could have done another 25k with no issues. But new AutoLites in now. #4 is the biggest pin in the ass, but after seeing your video, it helped a ton.

Great video! I’m about to change mine in my 2020 xlt

I just pound them in with BFH. They stay put. Oil or other lubricants will suffice. Great video.

Excellent video! Did you have the engine warm or cold when you changed them? I've heard you must have the engine slightly warm, not not sure what to believe.
