In this video I'll show you how to change a gas tank in your car or truck, and how to swap the fuel pump, breather hoses, and filler tube. I will also show you how to put a new pump motor on a fuel pump assembly.

This video was awesome!!! You are a great teacher and explain things really well. I have a car that’s been sitting for a couple years- wanting to restore and get her road ready and worthy, change tires, oil. coolant, plugs, cap, rotor, brakes, fuel pump and that fuel tank I know has got to be full of crude, bad fuel, and rust- just sitting there over the years not even worth cleaning- might as well just get a fresh clean fuel tank. Love this video- job well done!

Great tutorial! Can I make one suggestion though? Add heat shrink tubing to the crimp connectors inside the tank. Sometimes crimping will cut the insulation. If that happens on + and - side, could cause a spark. VERY bad thing to have occur inside the tank. Thanks for another great video and thanks for sharing the knowledge!

I have only owned and used diesel powered vehicles since 1977, and I have never had to change out a diesel tank in that time. As diesel is an oil they sure seem to outlast petrol ones. I have a petrol powered friend whose Range Rover is now on its third tank in 13 years. I convinced they rust a lot quicker with lead free and ethanol fuel. Anyways Dave, "tanks" for another great instructional video, they are always a welcome watch. David in the UK.

Dave, if someone with a farm needed a portable parts washer in the field, a used pump like this could be used with simple green and water, half and half, and an old kitchen sink. It could be run from the truck or tractor battery and be quite a convenience.

This is the one disadvantage of EFI as the fuel pumps are in the fuel tanks. Changing one on a truck is relatively easy but on a car can be a bear. Many often buy the pump and sending unit as one piece but that can be pricey. I've know a few guys who cut a hole on the left side of the bed so they didn't have to pull the tank off to get to the pump.
