Thank you, gives me confidence to have a go at this. Not splitting hairs, but it is highly recommended to replace the main bolts as they stretch over the course of time. Satisfying to see the job completed :)

Funny part is that triangle bit fails only on the stock PSA gasket. On aftermarket gaskets which that piece doesn't fail cause it doesn't separate they're more durable and the oil/ coolant mix doesn't happen on those. TLDR aftermarket gaskets are better and more durable than the stock psa gasket.

My brother has head gasket issues but on exhaust side using coolant but no leaks ,but exhaust when revved after good run shows white smoke moisture
My Peugeot 306 XR 1.4l 3-door hatchback in the beautiful color Peugeot EGED has this issue, which i recently discovered after a failed MOT. Drove it to a garage where i have access to a bridge and plenty of tools and discovered coolant in the oil after taking off the valve cover. The MOT report itself cited the blinkers were too yellow, too high emission, front brakes rotted, something wrong with the rear suspension(later discovered myself the right rear shock absorber was completely stuck) and the chassis beams infront have rot, though luckily behind the front wheels where its easily accessible by just removing the wheels, or for entire access by removing the strut towers. But in a week or two I'm gonna fix the stuff on the mot report and do a block revision, already ordered all the parts for the suspension and lights, brakes, rust converter and primer + paint + rust protector for the spots to be cut out and replaced But the coolant in oil resevoir indicates head gasket failure and also likely why the emissions are too high, gonna order a complete gasket kit, new water pump, belt, pulleys etc. The car just looks too good to not save it

Great video, it helped a lot. But upon starting the engine there was coming exhaust smoke fromt the oil cap. What could be the cause of this? I cleaned the mating surface thoroughly but didn't bring the cylinder head to the machinist for resurfacing. Could be the head warped? And if yes where could the smoke leak through?

Great job, i saw that when you removed the gasket, it was on one side ,and when you fitted the new one, it was on the other side, it makes any difference? I am asking because i bought a new head gasket by original code and the silicone guard is fitted on the opposite side of the original one. (i hope that you get what i am trying to say). Thank you!

@@DIYGarageProjects that is true. Some sealant rings doesn't like solvent but at least with vags, some coolant hoses soften dramatically because of oil and oil also weaken coolant system effectivity.

You are right Jay,but bolts were not available at the time. We found out for leakage around christmas ( not alot of stores worked around that time) And i didn't want wait for bolts since it was bothering me that water is leakage into the engine. So corners where cut. But it works fine for now.

It sounds to me like a head gasket problem, same as ours, oil is pressurised so it can leak to your coolant. My bet is on a headgasket

Oh, the only way some oil would get in your air box is through the outlet on the valve cover, that outlet is used for oil vapors to burn in the engine so some oil should be normal.
