I thought that the green arrows had to be lined up somehow before it went back on, and after watching multiple videos without success yours explained it for me and I was hella relieved. I wish I would've heard that last part about the green light but the sound of the motor blocked out your voice.

Thanks for the help. My belt was positioned so the hook couldn't catch the belt. Once I moved it over to the right position, the belt went on easily.

Thanks so much for your precise and clear instructions. Last time I needed the belt changed, I ended up taking it in the Kirby service place. My Kirby is a second hand G5 with no book. I followed the instructions on the machine but it didn't work. This time I thought to check KZfaq. Out of the other video I watched, yours was the best with great video and instructions. Thank you so much and saving me a service call.

If I understand your question the belt should not be loose and should be on the hook before you put the nozzle back on the motor unit. After you install the nozzle back on the motor unit you then turn the belt lifter dial to the green position (Clock Wise). If done correctly the brush roll should spin when turned on. thanks for showing how to remove the roller ..... but it came out in 2 parts as the other part stayed in the casting seems hair and rug got the best of the roller making it hard to remove and not to mention there are BEARINGS ON EACH END OF THE ROLLER MAYBE SHOULD OF MENTIONED THESE COULD BE BAD AS MINE CAME OUT IN PIECES ............I GLAD YOU DONT WORK ON PLANES
