Thanks, your vid helped a ton! FYI a 7/8 deepwell will work too. 7/8" = 22.2mm. Job went good. If your car is older or higher mileage, spray fasteners with WD40 or PB blaster first. Also re-tighted intake fasteners evenly a little bit at a time in a rotating pattern. Having a good assortment of socket extensions and swivel/universal joints helps too! I only pulled intake back, not completely off.

Hey thanks for the video. I wish I could tell you how to change the pcv valve without removing the intake manifold. I can't. My pcv valve you can shake it and it does rattle but rather slowly. Not a long job, fortunately I was able to let the throttle body hang on the manifold and didn't have to drain antifreeze either. One note if you ever decide to totally remove the intake manifold, there is a bolt holding wires on the bottom of the intake manifold next to the bottom bolt. Ironically not a hard job. You definitely need a 22 mm deep well to replace the pcv valve. Thanks made my day easier.

i can't seem to remove the hose from the pcv valve end...it just won't come off..loosened clamp etc..im starting to think i'll have to cut it off

Looks like my 2009 Vibe has the same engine and PCV valve placement. Did you end up having to pull the intake manifold off entirely to get to the PCV or were you able to simply partially pulled away as it was in the video? It looked like it might have been a struggle otherwise. Did you also replace the intake manifold gasket prior to reinstalling it? I think I caught a glimpse of it in the video. Appreciate the info and a response if you have a minute before I go digging into it. I recently cleaned my intake and changed spark plugs and cleaned the MAF and was looking around for the PCV valve while I was at it, but didn't locate it. Now I see why. My engine also started the giving the cold start rattle (around 105k miles) that I've since learned they're famous for, from the VVTi intake camshaft gear which is on my to do list. A little out of my comfort zone, but I've been able to find plenty of information and videos on it, so I'm getting pretty confident that I can tackle it.

While you have the intake manifold off I would replace the gasket, I was getting check engine codes when we had cold weather. If the exposed tabs on the gasket are discolored it needs to be replaced, since it's off why not replace it anyway.

I'm having problem removing the wire harness bundles attached to the bottom of the manifold. The pop-up clips are just too stubborn to pop. How do you remove them without breaking something?

There's an easier way to to do it before you take off manifold, take off driverside front wheel remove inside wheel well remove bracket to get to pvc valve need a small 3/8 ratchet make sure top ratchet swivels for more room pull hose off not to remove hose clamp walk it off pvc valve. Next deepwell socket by feel only you won't be able to see it but only by feel with your hand and then reverse procedure that's it hope it helps later

Can the PCV valve cause misfire codes or throttle body codes or cause on high unstable idle?

What are the torque number on those 12mm bolts & nuts? There are 3 hoses ( once the manifold removed, do you have name/part number for them? Also, what is the name/part number (1:15) the solid state unit (your thumb on 10mm screw, then a hose with wire clamp, look at the right of that has 10mm bolt holding it, attached with a plug)? 2009 Toyota Corolla LE

I have the same car I brought it at 150k mile run like a champ no sounds no check engine light on nothing ,but now it’s at 160k still runs like a champ no lights on no problem when I drive it , just that it’s starting to make this weird loud noise like it’s the timing belt but it’s not , it sound some what like a truck engine every time I’m stop at the light I hear it tink tink tink louder with the engine running do you have any idea what it could be ?

To put it back i need a torque for that intake manifold?

Local shop just charged my mother $338 to change the Pcv valve on a 2016 Corolla with 13k miles on it. Seems like a screw job to me and a part that didn’t need to be replaced. I drove the car right before it was changed and it ran completely fine with no CEL.

What a pain in the ass! I'm glad you did the video but I just changed mine on my Tacoma and it took like 10 minutes. I'll take my chances. Not going to go through that much hassle over a PCV valve. And the hose that comes out of the valve cover I would think would act as a backup in case the PCV valve fails?
