How to Change a Starter on a Yamaha Grizzle 550 ATV / HOW TO TEST A STARTER to see if it's Bad

In this video I remove the starter from a 203 Yamaha Grizzly 550 ATV and install a new starter. I also show you how to test a starter to see if it's working. Simple trick to keep your booster cables from tangling in the toolbox. Don't forget to connect the ground wire back when installing a new starter on the ATV.

I love watching your down to earth, no nonsense videos. This is exactly why I keep coming back to your channel. I may not always have the same equipment but the common sense is there and when you watch one, most of the others are somewhat similar enough to apply the same concept. You know, I have never sweet talked when working on my cars, lawn equipment or anything like that so I might have to try that but with enough determination I have always been able to get the job done. 😆 Thanks for always bringing good, wholesome unbiased content and not being afraid to show your mistakes because we have all left off a ground wire, lost an o-ring, forgot to plug something in or grabbed a few hot wires. That is what keeps life interesting.

The guy that said if you need to see how to take the plastics off you shouldn’t be changing the starter forgot the ground wire 😂😂😂 (breaking balls, good video!)

You gotta loosen the inner nut on the back of the starter so that you can rotate that plastic housing so the notch is facing up and you don’t have to bend the wire. You mentioned the starters were exactly the same and they are but you gotta do that or you will waste 30 minutes like I did trying to wiggle the new starter in. Once you do that the starter goes in much easier. Other than that it was very helpful. Thanks!

Another interesting honest how-to video, as you said you can't take chances with a starter especially if it's on a vehicle like this that tends to be going in the direction towards the middle of nowhere and you don't want to be stranded there as a rescue costs way more than a starter. I need to tell you my story about the electric trike we made way before electric vehicles were what they are now, also this was a pedal power trike we built for a friend that had nothing wrong mental or physically he was just as sharp as a bowling ball, he was clever at other things but was as thick as mud with practical stuff. It's a funny story. Anyway, brilliant show, take care stay safe and God bless buddy.

Hello Mr. Steven, You can't go wrong with Honda, Yamaha or the Polaris. I guess out of the 3 it depends on which body style suits your need the best is the one I would go with.
