My flights never seem to open up to 90 degrees the way those did. Also, it seems that the angle on two sides is never the same as the opposite two. I ordered Harrows Retina flights. Hopefully, they are better than cheap ones I've been using. Thanks for all your videos.

Frank Boston a good way to make them more 90 degrees is to use flight protectors. This also makes them last longer

I use L style flights. Durable, and always at a 90 degree angle. And they’re not that heavy, so they won’t weight down your darts on the backside

I just got some that are flattened how do I open them up to spread out?

Use thermoplastic flight. Con is that it is pricy

@@patefutch6168 Completely unfold them. Bend them open by slowly sliding fingers and spreading the flight out. Then, go ahead and open them all the way. Bend the other side now and take a look at it. If you have four 90 degree angles, slide her on. If not, work it a bit.

does the metal ring stay on the shaft or take off..starting darts at age 62

No the metal ring will stay on. Ideally what you should do is, punch a hole in the flight, insert the metal ring in that hole, then place it on the shaft. It just helps the flight stay in place and you don't flights dropping out as often.

The ring or spring will usually fly off when you lose a dart flight out of the shaft, never to be seen again.

Since I'm having so much trouble putting in an old flight I thought there would be some 'trick' to be shown. I even tried to open the slots by putting sewing needles in the slots. No luck there. I grabbed a brand new flight, opened her up to 90 degrees and the darn think went in as smooth as putting a key in a lock.
