Everyone, I have figured out why walk and run cycles (and probably any other not working animations) are not working. Here are the steps I figured out: 1. Click on file 2. In file go to game settings 3. Click avatar 4. For avatar type choose whichever one your animation is based around (R6 or R15 but don't choose Player choice because that overrides your custom animations) 5. For animation choose standard (again because it will override the animation) 6. From there don't mess with anything else Hope this helps! 😀

Here are some tips to common problems: Animation not WORKING: Make sure that your animation is OWNED by you and that BOTH IDs are changed. Animation not LOOPING: Make sure that your animation is set to LOOPED. When you create the animation, you have to enable the looping in the animation editor itself. Run animation not working: For run to work, your character's speed must be higher than the default of 16 (which is considered walk). Hope this helps!

for the people who says i doesnt work first check if its movement priority and try going to model press play delete your character folder and end it and play again and insert your animate back into characterscipts and put the id in walk instead of run

Can you show us how to apply these to a custom character model? Like let's say you set the starting player as something else, how would you apply the animations then?

If your custom character model has a humanoid and uses the same r15 animations, or has its own rigged animations, you should be able to do the same thing shown in the video

@yesyes5387 I think that roblox decides whether to play run or walk based on the walk speed of the character. So if your character is set to a higher walk speed then it will play the run animation. Other than that, try loading your animations through the animation editor (click the load button and load it from roblox) and see if the ID you used is the correct one. Did you make sure that BOTH ids are right?

I have done a walk animation and it partially works, it is looped and plays, but it only plays and loops the first bit of the animation. So it looks like the character is constantly trying to take a step.

There is. You looked under the player object with your name on it inside of Players. Look for the model in workspace with your name on it. Rewatch the video it’s all in there

I was wondering if there’s a way to create a UI that switches between animations? For example, if I clicked a button, then maybe my walk style would be like a zombie, and if I clicked another button, I would walk normally? Sorry if this is a whack explanation 🤓 I’m trying to make a (sorta) military type of game, and I want each role in said game to have a different “feel” to it- so, for example, a medic wouldn’t have the same exact animations as someone who is constantly in battlefield! I’m a One-Person team so I can’t exactly find someone to script this for me, KZfaq tutorials are my livelyhood right now 💀 The animation tutorial itself worked super well! Just tryna make my game feel more immersive

There is, but it can get complicated. Inside of the animate script, there are number values for each animation, containing the animation ID. There’s also animation objects. One way is when someone clicks the button, you would look inside of the character.Animate script and look for the number values I believe under each animation and change their values. This may or may not work though, because I’m not sure if roblox updates their default animations once those numbers.

Mine didn't work one thing I did notice with mine when I went to the idle anim script there was 2 lines of code directing to the idle animation but with yours there was 3

If this is not working and the reason is that Purchased Animation Packs Overrides Custom Animations then go to game settings and set animations to standard

Hmm, so, the owner of the game must have been the one to upload the animation for it to work. If it’s group owned then the group must be the owner.

i think its becuz you are using R6, thats why you only have 2 lines. i use R6 and that is the same case

if you want a walk anim, so you need to put the animation in run because its faster then 0 walk speed yw respond if there is a problem😀

I’ll need the full code. Which animation are you trying to override? The idle one will loop by itself because roblox set it to looping
