Great job! None of the fluff, showmanship or the self-promotion that almost all youtubers display. Just a simple, straightforward explanation of how to complete this piece of work correctly and - most importantly of all - safely. Well done!

Excellent video. No wasting time with fluff/b.s. talk. Thumbs ups. I ask this question because I'm a beginner: Shouldn't you replace the rubber boots and clips with new ones? Or is it not needed? Last week I watched your video on replacing the starter on a 2005 Honda Civic. Guess what? I had to replace my starter and the video help a lot! As a matter, I couldn't have done it without watching it. Thanks much.

The rubber boots only if torn and the brake hardware yea they should be replaced it does help avoid risks of that squealing brake noise..but i actually made a newer video much more detailed for the 2001-2005..thank you🙂 so glad to be able to have videos out there to help

Thank you for this demo. I just had some trouble making out what you were saying. Can you explain about the piston again?
@backyardchevy328
@backyardchevy328 6 жыл бұрын
for the piston some people recommend opening the bleeder valve to get ur old fluid out but that can cause many other problems like damage to that bleeder screw, or allowing air into the brake system or not being closed completely, but u do wanna keep an eye on the level of ur brake fluid so that it doesnt overfill when u compress ur brake caliper piston...and u use a brake caliper spreader and an old brake pad to compress the piston.

@@backyardchevy328 went well except I got the driver side done then when I was compressing the passenger side caliper it popped, had to replace it. Mine as well do both sides. Ugh, had to disassemble the driver's side. All in all it works better now. My 98 DX has slightly different caliper assemble, only one bolt on bottom and the top just sides off and on. Thanks again for the video

What Rachets and breaker bars would you recommend for removing the caliper brackets with good accessibility. The ones you have seen good.
@backyardchevy328
@backyardchevy328 2 жыл бұрын
Well ive kinda upgraded to snap on for my most used ratchets..and their 1/2 long ratcher kinda does both for me for the bigger bolts..but they are really expensive if u dont do em often even though the difference is worth it..but i do like the gearwrench brand as an alternative for ratchets

Copper anti seize works best for brake pad metal clips.
@backyardchevy328
@backyardchevy328 3 жыл бұрын
Well anti seize is only meant for pieces that arent meant to move..so anti seize will actually clump up and have a negative effect..so on break parts that move its best to use brake caliper lube on the contact points

Which way would you bleed the brake fluid 🤔? I heard Hondas are front driver side to back passenger side.
@backyardchevy328
@backyardchevy328 3 жыл бұрын
No, its always starting furthest away from the master cylinder then the final one is closest to master cylinder...so rear passenger..then rear driver...front passenger and front driver

If I dont have that tool to compress the brake calliper, is it hard to push it in with say a piece of wood or something flat?
@backyardchevy328
@backyardchevy328 4 жыл бұрын
U can use a c clamp or u can even use the old brake pads and put something in the middle like a pry bar and spread em apart.

I heard, or read, several people saying the rotor screws are not necessary, they are for assembly purposes. Do you find this to be true? That seems weird to me, but I guess the wheel and caliper/pads would hold it together.
@backyardchevy328
@backyardchevy328 3 жыл бұрын
Yea theyre not really necessary but when assembling ur brakes having the rotor hold in place is very convenient, the wheel being tightened/torqued is what would do the job if it didnt have the screw
