Bit of advice. Take a file to the 2 teeth on the brake pedal closest to the clutch cover. 2 lads I know have punctured the cover in the last week on old hondas but dropping them. Brake pedal Pearce’s it with the two teeth mentioned. Teeth/cleets what ever you wish to call them.

I was warming up my 02 CR250 3 days ago because I was gunna try to see if my new JD jetting kit would put an end to my plug fouling problem and also try putting some RotellaT6 in the case to stop the clutch from dragging so bad. So I cross the highway to go to the dirt roads and I road the hell out of that thing for about 20 minutes and got back to my house shut it off and put it back on the stand, but the stand was too far and I had no where to lay the bike so I yelled for my mom and she came. She noticed some dark grey dripping on our tan colored porch and the bottom frame of the bike and asked what it was, I said idk it’s probably the sludge that leaks out the pipe, but then she bent down and told me I was missing something and that there is a hole, and sure enough the oil drain bolt was gone, I was honestly terrified because I’ve only had this bike for 2 months and it in great condition. So I basically rode without oil, I traced my patch to try to find where it fell out hoping to see an oil trail, but I didn’t. So I’ve either ridden it twice without oil or lost it that day, it kinda crazy to me that on the same day I was gunna change the oil that the bike changed it by itself. Apparently oil plug falling out is a big problem with the 02-05 cr250s, and oil not getting to the plates, and rich jetting are all issues with the 02-05s LOL

Also it is best to use candle wax on your chain.... and sometimes it is entertaining to give tech tips to the public 😁
@rlc5325 жыл бұрын
Yeah Fredman and some people still believe candle wax can still work better than products engineered to lube the chain. That was my point the whole atf thing is just as silly. Why use an automotive product in place of something that has been engineered for motorcycles. Those teams have educated professionals employed that understand this also. they don't need to save money either. But I will say again sometimes it's fun to give the public tech tips, if you know what I mean 😉
@lanceg.84585 жыл бұрын
Its been pointed out on recent threads that Gas Gas, Sherco, Beta and, until recently KTM recommend ATF in the gearboxes of their 2 strokes. KTM is now in bed with Motorex who will sell you the recommended gear oil for $13 a quart. Please keep buying their "engineered" oil, silly is as silly does...
@rlc5325 жыл бұрын
Lance, ktm has used motorex exclusively since 2004 as their factory fill and recommended oil. Even 10years before that it was advised to use a high quality 4t engine oil for wet clutch as the two stroke transmission case fill. I didn't recall further back than that and the service literature is archived in the library somewhere. My point is there isn't a dirt bike manufacture that I know of that recommends using automotive automatic transmission fluid in a dirt bike transmission case. Even the bike in the video calls for a 4 stroke wet clutch engine oil. Many auto oils including atfs have friction modifiers in them that do not allow a wet clutch to work correctly. I know people have used type f atf and rotella but these again are not recommended and have been disproved as to doing the job correctly when used in dirt bikes. Not to mention these oils are not made for the high heat and load that is produced in a dirt bike. transmission. Now I'm sure there is plenty of good information here and on the forums you visit but there is also a lot of good information from the scientists, engineers and technicians that develop these machines and the maintenance products.
