Learner drivers find difficult on how to change gears up down smoothly in a manual car. Smoothly change up or down gears in a manual car can be a little difficult in the beginning for learners, and it's because of lack of information.
Firstly a learner needs to know that the gears are designed to be changed smoothly, and secondly the learners must know and understand that the speed and the gears are connected. You can't change gears unless you reach the speed for that gear. And thirdly if the gears are not changing smoothly then it's either you're changing it incorrectly or there's a problem in the gear box. Hopefully this video will help with the subject.

When I’m in gear 2 and I slow down a bit and downshift to gear 1, the car is on the high side of the speed and revs for that gear so around 11mph. And when I bring the clutch up there is a of a jerk. How i avoid that is by braking until around 6/7mph then fully coming off the clutch. But my instructor said you can downshift and come off the clutch even if you are on the high side so still around 10/11mph and slowly, smoothly come off. Is this correct and will that prevent the jerk?

OMG, thank you Sir because you're awesome. Your voice is calm and soothing and understood everything you mentioned that my husband was shocked. He's not the best teacher because he'll be shouting at me and I get upset and shout back 😆 by the time we get home after the lessons we're not talking to each other 😁. That is an issue - Changing from Gear 2 to 1.. I have a fear because it feels like a drag or the Tyres making a screeching sound to me changing gears down esp from gears 2 to 1. This tutorial is very helpful!. Love it.

Yes, block changing is highly recommended. The cars are designed for block changing. It’s good for cars and for the environment. Have you seen the video before this video on my channel. On that video I did mention a little on block changing. Hope this helps and wishing you all the best!

Hi, first I want say thank you for your brief explanation. What is the frequency of gear change? you said on driving on third gear on flat road driving a while don't change to fourth gear. What does it mean ? If car is moving in fifth gear, it's possible to stop without reducing the gear? What will happen if wrongly gear a shifted from fourth to a second without reducing the speed,? What will happen if I drive down hill with fifth gear? Thank you a lot!

I learned a lot from your videos. Sometimes our instructors usually teach us to change the gears while we're still on driving. i. e. Once you have put the first gear, put the second and the third one.
