Thank you for making this easy. Took this to my mechanic & locksmith ....neither were sure how open the box in order to change the battery. My mechanic told me to take it to Mazda & I should be prepared to spend a some extra bucks.

I own a 2008 RX-8 and the key is similar (only it has an extra button for the boot) so the process was literally the same to change my battery. You good sir, have saved me 120 USA Dollars (which is what mazda wanted to charge me to change it) Greetings from Chile!

Couldn't find the 1620 battery so I bought the 1632 and it worked just fine.

Helpful but it would have been useful to focus on the batter for a second to show the number/type (for those of us who haven't looked it up yet!)
