Great video bro, I have subscribed and look forward to future 250 videos. I turn wrenches myself and only take my car to a Lexus dealer for carfax and future resale prupose. If I ever get rid of my car it will be to upgrade to a new 250, 350, or a F model. Keep the videos coming. Your work does not go unrecognized.

Nice video! I watched this to understand how to do it for my Lexus. My dad will teach me soon so I hope this helps, plus being 17 and not knowing how to change your oil may be a bit embarrassing.

Eggs on Toast gotta start somewhere. There’s grown ass men who can’t change oil, so don’t worry. It’s the simplest car maintenance you can do, aside from air filters.

Took my 2011 is250 to the Lexus dealer the other day for an oil change and they put 20w50 in. I’m currently sitting in the showroom waiting for them to drain and replace with 5w30. Doing my own oil changes from now on 👍

You can tell the teeth on your are NOT engaged cause you can reposition the wrech with the teeth between the tabs instead of next to it above the tabs and will go on just as far. Only the 64.5 mm with 14 flutes are engaged which is why it feels like it's working - which it is but it would work better if it was the larger cap wrench.

I already have a OEM Nav in this car. It’s all converted to white and blue LED as well as all the green lights inside. I had a DIY on Club Lexus from 10 years ago.

If you are RWD, any IS350 or GS350 rotor from any year from 06-2021. If AWD need 2012+ IS350 rotors.

You can get OEM filters ($5) and the crush washers($0.25/each) on Amazon. Oil from Walmart or if you can get a slick deal with rebates.

Hi Again Could i just confirm with u that the link for the oil drain plug gasket on amazon is the right one as when i enter 06 is250 it says ' does not fit my car It probably is the right one as u are using it ::))

All Toyota use the same ones. M12 bolt size washers.

Which oil filter cap did you purchase? I got one from the auto shop but it slips and doesn’t grasp well. It really was difficult to remove the oil filter cap.

Like he said the car says 5w30. You do not want to change the operating rating of the oil like the guy in the video as you could be causing damage to the engine over time. The winter rating however is fine and actually good to change to a lower number of you live in cold climate. So you should put 0w30

You're obviously using the wrong oil filter cap wrench. The wrench you have only fits the 1.8 or1.3 liter toyota built engines. That why the teeth on the wrench don't engage with the tabs on the filter. What size is your engine? I think you need the MX2320 Motivx wrench.

Hi Tuner Hope youll see my post & be able to answer I have an Aust is250 i just purchased with 52,000kms one owner ::)) Im just wondering ( i have no idea) when u raise the car to drain the oil (& everyone i see on utube does it) the back of the car is not level. Should the car be level in order to drain all the oil ?

Mc Kav the front higher is better. I think the drain bolt is near the rear of the pan so more oil comes out.

Important to be level for transmission fluid. Engine oil can be verified with the dip-stick.

Not yet, my opportunity to do the carbon buildup cleaning passed when I change my plugs 4 years ago. Won’t need to do it anytime soon.

@@TunerwithKids there are issues with the buildup of carbon with direct injection ie direct port injection which is caused by the oil vapor (if I’m not mistaken) that settles on the valves. This is mainly an issue with 06-13 Lexus IS 250. I plan on taking mine to a mechanic to have the engine carbon cleaned or as I would call preventative maintenance.

Yea you gotta walnut blast. But the intake manifold and half the top end has to be removed. I’m not trying to do that til need to change plugs again. You have help reduce by installing an oils catch can. The IS350 has both DI and port injection so that burns off all the oil on the valves.

@@All4fundude, yes it catches the oil from the PVC bypass from recirculating back in the airstream which is the cause of the carbon.

John Steger, interesting, didn’t know they changed the spec in 2012. I wonder if they made any minor material or design changes in the engine. It might be due to EPA mileage efficiency ratings too. Using thinner oil will yield slightly more MPG on paper and tests.

Yea. Wish I KZfaq’d more like 10 or 12 years ago. Would have a bunch of good 2IS content. Even 18 months ago I would have had some good footage. Most of my content is on ClubLexus from early 2IS days.
