How to Change Suzuki V-Strom 650 Oil + Filter ✅ (2004 - 2011)

How to change the oil and oil filter from a 2004 to 2011 Suzuki DL650 V-Strom. The bike in this video is a 2007 model, but the process is the same for all 1st generation V-Stroms.
What you need:
14mm socket or wrench
3 quarts of 10w-40 motorcycle specific oil (I prefer full synthetic)
Oil filter for V-Strom 650 (I'm using K&N's KN-138)

Hello my friend. I always use semi-synthetic oil as the manufacturer suggests and i am afraid to use full synthetic even though i always wanted. How many miles have you been using full synthetic? Did you ever have problem? Do you change them normally at 6000 klm or you keep longer? Because the semi synthetic come out total black.

I just prefer full synthetic as it's better in every measurable way to conventional or a blend. Lasts longer, holds up to heat better, and the molecules are more uniformly sized. I haven't been using it in my bikes that long but I've put it in my cars for over 15 years and never had issues. Just avoid the ones labeled "energy conserving" as they are the wrong ones for bikes. As far as changing schedule, I'll do it every 4000 miles (6500 km) or at least once per year.

@@RDMotoring Do you change the filter with every oil change? Some people on the forums are saying the oil filter lasts longer.

@@123456789billybobjoe The owner's manual says to change the oil filter every third oil change. While this is likely fine, I just do it every other one. It's a pretty good-sized filter so every other time is more than often enough.

WTF is a quart and why are you giving volume in quarts when the motorcycle is japanese and both the manual and crankcase give the required volume in LITERS
