Do you prefer the older or newer style of Popsocket?

I like the older kind because I could put a steel disc inside the cap, which then sticks to my magnetic dash board mount. New one doesn't allow to remove cap, so I can't put my steel disc inside to make magnetic mount stick to the pop socket itself. I saw another DIY video where they stick the steel disc on OUTSIDE the cap, but that covers up the design. I don't like that. So now I'm supposed to get all new dashboard mounting systems? Lame.

The older design with the notches is much better and easier to deal with.

Older design way better!! I just bought 6 from Amazon w interchangeable tops and two broke the first time I turned them to remove the disk one popped the entire disk out the other wouldn’t turn at all! Both were unbelievably high priced for a badly manufactured product! I am livid!!! I def miss the old style much more! They were a lot easier in lotsa ways!

This was super helpful. I remember seeing that these were swappable but couldn't figure out how and had some really nice ones laying around that I'm now able to reuse 😊

Changing the top isn’t easy. I broke 2 just trying to change the top. I like the old design better!!

How exactly are you breaking them? Are you trying to just pull it off without it being unlocked from the base fully?

Just found out why! My old one was a different model, that’s why this truck didn’t work . The new one I got was very easy to switch the top bc it’s a newer model and has the 90 degree option

My metal-disk top, is separating from the rubber cone too. OP-asking about this 1-year ago, and still no answers or solutions? Anyone? Is the only option to glue it? Being only half off, I'm afraid to remove it, or even lift it more to peek.

My top piece came off the base and I can't rotate it out of the base... any suggestions? I tried a tiny bit of oil to losen the stuck part but that didn't work.

It would help to mention if you rotate until the click means you have gone too far... the click is 180°..

I mean I specifically say to only turn it 90 degrees , and show how to easily tell what is 90 degrees. So if you turn 90 degrees to click it in and 90 degrees to click it out, then it should be obvious that 180 degrees means you will be back where you started lol

For those Magsafe popsockets, you need to twist 90 degrees anti-clockwise to remove the top rather than clockwise for some strange reason

Are you sure you have the newer Swappable popsocket, and is it a real one or a knockoff? The older ones don't have this feature, look right under the plate that has the popsocket design, do you see 4 little tabs that connect the design to the rubber expandable funnel part? If so you have an older style

I can't get it, the accordian just naturally pops up no matter how many times I try turning it 90 degrees. I can't get it on either the current popsocket on my phone or the new one I just opened. Both are swappable.

The accordion pops up? Like expands? I’ve never heard of it doing this by itself, collapsing sure, but opening up?

Yeah. My others ended up coming off just fine, but the Harry Potter one didn't. It's the enamel deathly hallows one. So maybe it's either the material or the specific line of them idk.@@RobSomeKnowledge

I have the older popsocket. And I just got it so I have a question. So can I remove the rubber part that is on it? Not the sticky part but the rubber thing that attaches to the top thing.

Are you pushing down and turning at the same time? If you are and it’s not turning it’s either broken or you probably have the older style popsocket that doesn’t have the swappable part built in

There are little indentations and tabs that stick out. One set on the base. One set on the piece that disconnects. Are the little round tabs that stick up, broken or worn down? That is how they catch and lock in place

Are you sure you have the swappable kind? The old ones weren't swappable like this, check out this video and see if you have the 4 little tabs that I show and you can just pop the design top off of the rubber funnel part: kzfaq.info/get/bejne/g7RxZ8uBydfOY30.html
