You don't need to start the car; it only needs to be in key first position/accessory mode. Otherwise, thanks for the video, this was by far the easiest cabin air filter replacement I've ever done as a result of having this info. Literally less than 5 minutes, including walking out to the driveway and back.

Is there a soft opening fitted to this glove box, mine just suddenly drops at a press of the button? If so is there an easy fix or upgrade? Thank you

Simple replacement! It took sometime to get the canopy to open but other then that it took me 27 minutes!

Worked a treat just as it was shown. Seeing as my car has only been serived been serviced by LR and only covered 41K it seemed of that the bellows cover was alread open on mine! And the filter did not look like it had been changed ever! even when I look through the OSH it say it has been changed as part of the services! I suspect its a sneaky one where they manually lift the bellows and maybe vac it off a bit and then still charge £45 for the privilege! Good work Simon nice easy job, Still hasnt solved to odd mould smell on start up that has appeard ruing the month they were replacing the engine. AC bomb is the next trick just trying to find one that does leave the car smelling like the perfume department in Harrods
@L6633 жыл бұрын
Hi Paul - interesting - may be work checking the AC drain hoses - when the aircon is on you should have water dripping from the underneath of the car - see if you can trace where it is and check the ends of the hoses are clear etc
@paulb89163 жыл бұрын
@@L663 Good plan there is defo water exiting the car, although I have read its a common problem that is worse in summer when AC is used on full and then when the car is switched off the wamr moist air enters the cold vents and condensate inside where the mould smell can start to form, the general routine is to either switch the AC off or onto full heat just before you switch the engine off to dry out/warm the ducts to stop the condensate forming. I am giving that a go each time just to see if it makes a difference. Or try one of these Air conditioning Bomb's (i tested one in another car that has a similar issue and it seems ok but still leaves a bit of a fragrance in the car). Ill try and check the drains just incase they are not flowing as clear.

Thanks for this video. This works in a Discovery Diesel as well, I have a 2017 TD6. It is low miles (so unlikely untouched) and the "up" arrow was appropriately positioned to match the one on the cartridge. Funny side story: somehow a mouse got in our truck and had its nest right on the cabin filter. Gross. Needless to say the pee smell is now gone when we use the AC!

Yes this is not uncommon - my friends were living abroad and when they would come back i would go and get their Honda CRV charged up and ready to drive for them....had exactly the same problem and the same smell !

Hi, Your video is self explanatory and helpful. Just keep in mind that ONLY OEM filters will have 'UP' mark on the side. Aftermarket filters have arrow pointing, and that is where the confusion starts. On aftermarket filers arrow points in the direction of air flow. In many cases fan is below the filter so you have to install the filter with the arrow pointing down- because that is the direction of air flow- fan sucks the air from outside and/or from within the cabin. So, here is your explanation why someone would install the filter with arrow pointing down.
@EdwardW-qr7yj Жыл бұрын
Air flows DOWN so the arrow on the aftermarket filter should point down. Saved a ton over what the dealer wanted to charge. Thanks for all the info!!! This is the correct video for a 2018 land rover discovery.

Upside down filter!!! Hi! Love your vids, looking forward to ordering the body kits for my 2016 TD6. This video is great, but the dark side of the filter goes up. The white diverter panel that flips up, regulates the air between the fresh feed and the cabin air, for recirculation. Air goes into the filter from the top, then down into the distribution for the vents. If you inspect a dirty filter, you'll see that the debris from exterior air, like leaves, dust, dirt, is on the top of the filter. The UP on the black filter bracket denotes its orientation for fitment in the airbox. The UP on the filter indicates the top of the filter, but not the airflow path. A common error to make, as these filters are used in various devices. Again, UP on the black plastic filter holder for orientation, then dark side on top for the filter element. Keep making great content!

The dark side of the filter goes down. When it says up next to the arrow then the arrow should point up. If it says air flow then the arrow should point down which is the direction of air flow.
@belfastboyca3 жыл бұрын
@@njsongwriter the airflow on the RRS passes from the top to the distribution box on the bottom, if you install the filter dark side(coarse filter) down, you'll blow charcoal into the cabin outlets. Dirt from the exterior intake accumulates on the top of an installed filter in the RRS.

I just bought a used RR Sport L494 this week and it has been misting up on windscreen so I thought I would replace the cabin pollen filter. I watched your video carefully and followed the instructions but someone must have previously forced open the grey hood cover as it does not open or close when pressing the record button. The grey hood is very loose. Does anyone know if there is an easy way to fix this?

Did you get to the bottom of this mate? I have the same issue I think
@RichardEllaPhotography4 ай бұрын
@@pavs3148 my landrover specialist has told me it needs the whole blower unit replaced at a cost of around £600 so I just taped it in position to ensure that it always bringing air into the car. No more mist issues.
@pavs31484 ай бұрын
@@RichardEllaPhotographyah excellent. I was thinking of doing the same thing tbh. Am I right in thinking if the flap is opened (can see the filter) this is the recirculated mode, so you have closed the flap and taped it down bringing fresh air in?
@RichardEllaPhotography4 ай бұрын
@@pavs3148 yes. I taped mine in the closed position with flap down so you can’t see filter.

I have fliped the white bit with my hand and i have pushed it. Now the heating system dont worm and it only brings cold air. Could that be a reason for it not to work ?

Would this be the reason why when I turn my aircon on, I immediately get s horrible "stail" smell for a few seconds and then it disappears? If not, any ideas on how to solve that?

Yes this is a prime cause - the other could be a blocked condenser drain - we should do a video for that !

I mean i have some substance but clearly not as much as i could. Anyway you are of course correct but the video is now made and published. I will take on board your views and try and add more demonstrating and talk less in my new videos and also in my life in general. So thanks for the advice.
