In the late winter on 18/19 I took my niro in for this service. The dealer knew nothing about it. They had to look it up for the process and cost. So in 2 years they had never done this on any cars. First service $60, 2nd $160. Then I figured out I could get more than what you showed with a manual brake bleeder and a small hose that would fit inside the rubber hose all the way down. I have 2 niros, 15 minutes both are done.

I just used your video and was able to successfully change my actuator fluid. Some things to note: the 12 or so round clips on the big bottom panel are easily removed by prying up on the very top part of the clip closest to you with a screwdriver. Also I did struggle somewhat getting the two 12mm bolts off the reservoir at first. I needed a 2 or 3” extension and had to start with the easier one towards the driver’s side first. Then I was able to rotate the reservoir a bit to barely squeeze my way in with the extension and successfully remove the other screw. Then when reinstalling I put them back in the reverse order. The first screw went back in fairly easy but lining up the reservoir with that other driver’s side screw took a bit because there’s no way to see if you’re lined up. All in all it wasn’t too bad and I thank you for making this video! I might’ve given up and brought it to the dealer without your help!

I am very grateful to you for your beautiful videos. Now I want to explain to you my topic, which is, in short, when it jerks and turns when straightening to the top, it is very annoying. Based on your beautiful videos, I changed the clutch fluid, but I did not finish the problem... The question is do I have to replace it? The liquid in the barrel and the actuator that is connected to the clutch fluid reservoir, or do I have to replace the fluid in the reservoir only more than once in order for the fluid to be renewed automatically, and is the issue of the shaker from the actuator originally meaning that it is not suitable, or is it after changing the fluid that it becomes better, and is there a relationship between the fluid The brake that is in the brake tank and the abs in general has something to do with this issue and the vibration in general. This is my personal belief, because if the brake is fully trampled on, I feel that it has been disconnected. necessary.

You didn't mention it but the clutch fluid does have a service interval of 22.5k miles. The dealer diagnostic equipment can run a bleed procedure, at the moment 2020 Ioniq clutch bleed isn't covered by Snap Ons SOLUS yet. People who do it this way might want to use a fluid removal tool of some kind to replace the fluid every 3rd oil change instead of 6 cause you are only changing half the fluid and save this clean out for 30k ish (might be tricky for people on the ground). You can get to the cap from the top if you move the fresh air tube, it's not fun but a long funnel will help. Love the video's they have been mighty helpful, cheers.

A Discovery into the unknown. Brilliant explanation and presentation of the subjects. Prevention is better than a co$tly replacement part due to lack of maintenance, not knowing the results of Environmental impact on the parts. I have a late 2016 Auris wagon hybrid, it was high mileage when purchased 4 years ago in cold weather it sometimes makes a grinding noise and clunk at the end of a journey upon leaving the vehicle. Would this noise be the solenoid valve engaging needing some lubrication? Or fluid change. Gen 3 prius technology on board.

I have a 2019 Hyundai Ioniq, and i want to change out the engine clutch actuator fluid. I’m ready to do what you showed in the video, but I’ve read stuff online about some computer program to suck air out of the engine clutch acuator…or something? Is any of that necessary? I don’t want to deal with any computer programs. Will everything work just fine if I just change out the fluid as shown in your video? Update: Last night, I stuck a turkey baster inside the fluid reservoir and sucked out about half the fluid and refilled the reservoir up to the top with new dot 3 brake fluid. The whole fluid reservoir looks a little cleaner today, and the car is running fine. I plan on doing this again maybe in the next couple days. But next 22k interval, I will take it to the dealer for a full cleanse and flush. They charge $200, and it’s okay once in a while.

Thanks for video. The Kia Niro, even though almost the same, has the reservoir right at top front, not lower like Ioniq. The reason Kia(or Hyundai) charge like $250 for fluid change is because they do a purge procedure with the diagnostic computer that purges the air from system, and other things like checking the position of the resolvers. This air purge is needed for replacement of the clutch actuator. If just changing the fluid, you are not introducing air to system, so it's not needed. What I do is suck the fluid from the reservoir and replace every 10k miles, so it's pretty much changed completely like the 22.5k mile change interval called for in manual. Maybe at some point I will remove reservoir and clean like you did. For now there is no sticky residue, but it definitely gets discolored after even 10k miles. I subscribed to your channel, look forward to your videos.

If you only change the clutch fluid in the reservoir on a Kia Niro, which sits at the top of the engine compartment, it seems to me that you won't get the worst of the fluid which would be sitting down lower around the actuator from what I can tell.....I don't think the fluid circulates at all back to the top so I would have to assume it would have to be drained by bleeding a hose down by the actuator and cycling the actuator with diagnostics software.....?
@land7776
@land7776 Жыл бұрын
@@lchown1813 that is not really correct for a few reasons- but first, if you think of the brake system, there's also a reservoir but the steel lines it's feeding are very small diameter and snake all the way to wheels, so very little fluid gets circulated. That's why the fluid looks about the same even after years. With the ECA, the hoses are much larger diameter and short length. Gravity alone exchanges some fluid down to actuator. The working of the actuator pulls more fluid from res. That is why it starts to become darker even after a few k's miles. Then there is the shop manual itself-it calls for the procedure to purge air when replacing the actuator. If you want to pay $250+ to the dealer, they will appreciate it. Otherwise you are not introducing air, and are changing virtually all the fluid with a shorter change interval, @ 4-6 dollars per pint.

@@land7776 Funny my manual says to change the fluid every 24000km which is 14000 km....wonder why the difference. I did just suck out the fluid from the reservoir the other day. I noticed that some of the fluid at the bottom got stirred up and was a milky color compared to the almost transparent color of the rest of the fluid. I guess I will just replace the fluid more often as mentioned and hopefully that will be good. My dealer only charged me around $100.00 or so to change it last time but I don't know what their procedure was, so not sure if they drained it down at the actuator and did th actuator cycling or changed it like I did, or maybe did nothing and charged me anyway....(considering the milk fluid in the reservoir). I also seem to remember at first they didn't know what actuator fluid replacement meant either. Thanks for the reply/

Do you empty the reservoir completely? Don't you risk Introducing air? Seems like you would have to drain the resveoir only halfway for no air to get in, but I'm not sure what the Kia looks like so maybe that only applies to ioniq.

@@zachary6572 I changed the fluid by just using a coolant tester to suck it out of the reservoir. I noticed some milky coloring at the bottom. I tried to get out as much as I could and refilled with DOT3 brake fluid. I haven't had any issues. I will repeat the process in a few months probably just to see if there is any milky fluid in there again. The car is still under warranty so I might be taking a chance by not having it done correctly, assuming that the dealership actually does much more than that though...I would have to ask some time what their procedure is. The first time I asked to get it done, they didn't seem to know what it was about.

I have the feeling that it could comes from a slipping clutch !? I've never felt this vibration while in electric mode, it's only when the ICE is running. The vibration often occurs uphill at low speed and high gear (5th or 6th), I don't think I've ever heard it downhill. It occurs between 50 km/h and 120 km/h, above and below these speeds I don't think I've ever heard it. I'm afraid it will damage something, I'm going to make an appointment with my dealer but I know they always struggle finding this kind of random problem. That's why I would like to evaluate before where it can come from. One thing important, in manual gear mode, when the problem occurs, I see the rev counter which varies and rises a little in the revs ! I guess this proves that the engine is running a little faster as if the clutch is slipping ? When i bought the car, the clutch fluid had bever been changed. As I was having this problem, I replaced the fluid (folowing your great advices !! 😊) but it didn't change anything. It seems there is a need to "reset the learning process" after changing the clutch fluid, can you tell me how we can do this and, do you think not resetting the learning process could explain why my problem persists? Does anybody have ever encounter this kind of problem and do you know where it can comes from ? Thanks for any help.

Being that the fluid circulates, could you simply siphon out the fluid, or use a turkey baster, every 20k miles or so? I have a 2021 Kia Niro with 17k miles on it and the "techs" don't understand the actuator fluid. I've asked about changing it per the owner's manual and they just look at me like I have three heads.

Lmao, yes you can siphon it out it says its ok to do so in the manual. Or pull the hose off the actuator but then you have to bleed it

Is it necessary to change the fluid? Because my mechanic says it's not mandatory, and where can there be a leak? Because I see that there is moisture ..

Hi Does this method in the video require a scanner? I asked my local mechanic who is honest and has fair pricing and he watched the video. He asked if this requires a factory scanner? What’s is your instagram account? FYI my dealership doesn’t even do this. They were clueless
