I've seen other videos where the tank can't be dropped because you'll have to drop the whole suspension just to get to the tank. That's why they made the access panel in the trunk. A smart decision by GM, though

Mine hasn't worked since I got the car a year ago. I didn't realize it would be this easy to change out.

We are attempting this for the first time on a 99 Park Ave and I have a few questions. I saw you attach a float to the new pump but did not see what you did with the float when you put the new pump the car. Do you just drop it in when you put the pump in? It was sticking out pretty far and it didnt look like there was room in compartment to get the fuel pump in place with the float sticking out on the side of it. How come you couldn’t use the existing wiring harness thingy? Why did you have to splice the new one on? Is it a different size? Would it be a problem to skip that step and use the existing one? As you can tell, I don’t know a ton about cars but I am trying to learn to do a few of the easier repairs to save money on labor. I hope you see this!!

Hope you have better luck with the cheaper ones than I have, seems that I generally only get an average of about 1 year of use out of the cheaper pumps, just my experience. On GM models you need a higher fuel pressure to start the engine versus having it run, so if the pump was getting wore out and loosing some pressure that is more than likely the cause of your hard start issues. You could have purchased the female connector and installed that on the new pigtail end and made the new install a plug and play install Monica you done a perfect job girl ⛽👍👍

Quite often the problem with the gas gauge reading is the stepper motor in the instrument cluster.

My 1995 Ford Contour has a trap door under the back seat. Made the job easy when I changed the pump. Unlike yours, my fuel lines were a bitch to get off.

I took my locking ring off actually it was dissolved with Rost it fell off trying to put my new pump in and ring I noticed I don't have the receiving little attached Clips to the tank to receive the new ring is there an adhesive I could use to hold the pump down IC J-B Weld has a product that has 1300 lb strength and sets up in 20 minutes if I applied that and held the pump down somehow for 20 minutes do you think it would Bond it said it is fuel and Diesel resistant 1997 Buick Riviera do you think the J-B Weld wood eat the plastic on a new pump as well unable to get a new tank
