How to Change the Idler Pullies, Spindle Bearings and Belts on a Bad Boy Elite Zero Turn Mower Deck

In this video I will demonstrate step by step how to change the Idler Pullies (033-7201-25) ( (033-6001-00), Spindle Hub Bearings (037-6015-50 ) the Deck Belt (041-1560-00) and the Drive / Pump Belt (041-6400-00) on a BAD BOY ZT ELITE Zero Turn Lawnmower. This will save you money by replacing the bearing and not having to buy new spindle hubs.
You will also see how to remove and replace the Clutch Assembly 070-1000-00. ALL PARTS USE were purchased through AMAZON.

Thank you, Sir! Your videos are great. I have a ZT Elite just like yours. You make it very easy to see what you're doing and where all the parts are that you are working on. So many videos show too many close ups and you have no idea which part of the mower the person is working on. Your steps are easy to follow and very detailed. Very, very helpful for a novice DIY'er. I repack my new/used bearings with Lucas sticky red grease. Lucas is high temperature not like the low quality grease they put in at the factory. Do that and you may never have a bearing problem again. The factory wants to sell you new bearings. I have been cutting lawns for 76 years and have been there and done that on many machines. I do all my own work and maintenance including belts and tires and etc. I love the smell of fresh cut grass.

IF YOU DO THAT AGAIN...IN STALL ZERT FITTINGS IN SPINDLES & GREASE THE BEARINGS FROM THE SPINDLES . SPINDLES . SHOULD BE GREASED OFTEN

@@RESERCHER49 If the bearings are sealed that won't do a dang bit of good, plus how would you know if you put enough grease in to reach the bearing area? By taking the bearing apart I get rid of all the used old grease.

Mr. Ronald, I don't why that don't make them greaseable. I guess because they would last to long then. These bearing where not out just roaring load if I could have pumped a little grease in them they would still be going.

I've been getting my deck belts for my Bad Boy ZT-60 at Tractor Supply. Mine is an older model, but they still use the same deck belt on the newer ZT Elite 60s. Tractor Supply also has the 54" belts.

Brilliant stuff you know how I love a good teardown. I remember asking kris my son to go get the monkey wrench from my toolbox years ago and he thought I was having a laugh at his expense, you know all ghd old tricks sending the apprentice fir a bucket of steam or left handed screwdriver or a tin of tartan paint, well he came back with a set of vice grips so I had to go show him what i wanted. We are needing to be getting you a set of ramps a lift or dig a pit so you can get working on these things without you having to be rolling all over your yard fixing these mowers. The mower sounds a lot quieter now buddy so a good job done well buddy, you please take care stay safe and God bless buddy.

I heard the way that wrench got its name, the guy that invented it looked like a monkey, maybe fellow workers called him monkey, Not really for sure, but he invented the wrench and the name stuck, Great tool when needed, I drilled and tapped a hole for a grease zert into my mower spindle housings, filled them with grease, that makes the deck quieter, that grease however does not help lube the bearings as they are sealed bearings,

M Goble, I've been looking at different brands out there and for the most part it's not but a couple that has grease fitting on the spindles. Witch surprised me.

My bad boy is 12 years old And I’ve never done anything to it, but change the oil I replaced a belt and now my deck won’t raise or lower . I had hydraulic fluid Everywhere . I gotta fix that next .

My bearing had not gone out but was so dry I got tired of the noise. I've replace that rocker switch that raise and lower the deck 3 or 4 times over the years. I think I have a video in my How To Playlist.

You shouldn't have had to pull the clutch. Just unplug the connector and work the belt over the clutch after you untension it. Loosening the hydros sounds like a pain, though.

Poorboy ,I just found your site here on KZfaq, and enjoy very much, but I'm not trying to be a smarta$$ , but on those spindles they can be converted to greasable spindles, by drilling and tapping a hole for an alamite in the housing on one side and then drill a deep hole on the other side ,tap this hole and install a small screw to keep the grease from coming out but you also need to disassemble the spindle and remove the sealed bearings ,and if bad replace but before you do remove the bottom seal of the top bearing and then remove the top seal from the bottom bearing, then put your spindles back together and remount to the deck ,then once you have installed the grease fittings grease the spindles and fill the spindle housing until the grease is coming out the weep hole on the opposite side of the spindle, once this is happened clean the grease from the outside of the spindle at the sweep hole and install a screw that will fit the weep hole , the weep hole should be taped so the screw will go in easily. By installing grease fittings to your spindles your bearings and spindles should last a life time. There are videos on KZfaq that explain exactly how to do this . But you may already know this. I have a commercial Toro that has grease fittings and it is 23 years old never had to replace any bearings , but I also have a Cub Cadet ULTIMA ZTX5 and I have done this to it ,sealed bearings are made to fail ,so you can spend more money. The first thing that popped out at me was you said alamite and not grease zerk so I knew riight-away this guy knows what he is talking about. I drill and tap them and remove inside brging covers Yep all I buy is brging by the dozen every year to fix other ones with no grease zert and covers still on

Okay, Now, Did You put the Key in the Shaft or was in Still in the pulley? You know the key you said not to lose or forget when you did the bearing replacement? I did not see or hear you mention the key in the assembly portion of your video.
