A quick and easy 15 step guide on how to change the oil in your riding lawn mower. Some steps will vary based on your model, but this is specific to the Simplicity model 2691479 with a Kawasaki FR651v engine. Actually, this will be the exact same process for any mower with a Kawasaki FR651v engine. See below for other useful links and time stamps for each step.

Skip ahead:
00:12 - Step 1: Read over your manual.
00:48 - Step 2: Purchase the required items
01:03 - Step 3: Let mower run 5 minutes and prep area for an oil change.
01:18 - Step 4: Find drain plug/hose and remove the drain nut.
01:57 - Step 5: Drain the oil
03:14 - Step 6: Prep the area for oil filter removal
03:23 - Step 7: Remove the old oil filter
04:05 - Step 8: Prep the new oil filter per the instructions
04:43 - Step 9: Install the new oil filter
05:13 - Step 10: Identify how much oil is required
05:42 - Step 11: Pour the oil (Do Not Overfill)
06:54 - Step 12: Check the oil level and add more if needed
08:13 - Step 13: Let the engine run for 5 minutes & check oil again

10:31 - Step 15: Dispose of the used oil

You don't have to unscrew the second clamp to remove the air filter. Only the clamp with the thumb screw needs to be removed. Removing the second clamp exposes the carburetor input to falling dirt and grime. Also, when you replaced the oil filter and filled it with new oil and thought you had over filled it, It was actually just fine. I think you didn't take into account the fact that the new oil filter had not yet been filled with oil. After starting the engine and running it for a bit, the oil filter filled up with oil. and you found out that you had the proper level of oil. Great video!

Mine doesn't have the oil drain tube, I can buy a kawasaki oil drain tube but stuck with the current oil in there. Any idea what size tube it would take?
