I only use API SL as recommended in manual.Newer API specs are more to save fuel and tighter emissions ,so to save cats etc .Wear protection formula or say package is not the same as it was 15 years ago.So it would be interesting to see lab results with same brand but with different approvals ,especially API SL vs SP.Also keep in mind the old formula was based on the quality of fuel 10-15 years ago,so it actually save your engine if you have low quality fuel in your area.I have done some research and the best oil for our cars will be BMW LL-O1 approval or MB 229.5.These two approval ratings together on any oil bottle means best of best oil LIqui moly special tec LL or Castrol edge a3/b4 are perfect and both are API SL.Thanks

Fram filters are mostly made in the USA by the way. Engineered and built here and the Ultra line is better quality than OEM. Synthetic material vs paper on the OEM. Rated at 99+% efficient at 20 microns and 94% efficient at 10 microns. If changing the filters out every 5k miles or less though. I don’t think it really matters unless you’re trying to make a car last over 500k miles lol

Do you know how many foot lbs should the Fumoto plug be on the oil drain plug

I was so close to getting the Fumoto oil drain but cancelled and found another one called Valvomax. Higher quality and less risk of something hitting the lever because it doesn’t have one.

I don’t like the valves because they leave a lip where heavy particulates can collect and not drain properly, I much prefer a magnetic drain plug.

Nice work! I just picked up a GSF about 2 months ago and i just finished doing all the maintenance. Oul change, brake fluid flush, coolant flush, differential fluid, both TVD units fluid, air filter, trans fluid flush. Its running great look forward to more GSF content from you

Thanks for the comment! What year and how many miles are on the one you picked up?! I’m looking at doing my coolant, rear diff, and TVD fluids on the channel in the near future as well!

@@SEsGarage It is a white 2016 with 75,000 miles. The car is in fabulous condition and has a full service history but I actually feel the manufacturers recommended service intervals are a little longer than what I prefer. Lifetime transmission fluid just doesn't sit well with me. I am just waiting until summer is over so I can really rip on it, it doesn't feel right pushing the car in the 118 degree summer heat here in AZ.

I’ll be doing my transmission at 60k as I think 30 is a little too early for WS fluid, but the TVD and diff look easy enough to service and I have a few quarts of WS laying around from my last car for the TVD so why not. I need front brakes fairly soon too. Looking at doing a budget friendly upgrade using rock auto

Again congrats on that white GSF. I did the same, except i asked the Lexus independent shop to also evacuate and recharge the A/C system. They all insisted it fine not need to service. I replied “i rather pay for service than blow out the compressor” sure enough the system missing couples oz from factory specs.

@@SEsGaragemany say 6 years or 60k miles for auto transmission fluid change. As youre probably aware, they are supposed to be filled for life and my dealer is absolutely adamant that the trans oil doesn't need to be changed. My GSF is just turned 6 years old with 38k miles...... I'm still pondering over it.🤔
