Just finished this job on my 2009 2.4 Accord. I let it drip for about half an hour, it took exactly 3.5 quarts to fill it.

You forgot to wipe off the drain plug which is magnetic to absorb the metallic fragments

skyeric875 i'm sure I didn't forget to do it but it looks like forgot to mention it. When you're working on is the second nature to do that stuff and not think about it.

My 2010 Honda Accord LX (4cycl) took 3.5 quarts. Most of these car from 08-12 they say can vary. Some take 2.6 quarts and some 3.5qts.

Just did this on my 2009 Accord 2.4. I let it drip for half an hour, it took exactly 3.5 quarts to fill it.

3 and 1/2 quartz just trying to make sure I get right . When I asked the Honda dealership parts service they said 2 1/2 quartz

3 1/2 quarts is for the V6 engines. The 4 cylinders take 2.6 qts

@@094340 interesting... my 2012 2.4 took 2.7 quarts but I did read on the forums that some model years have different capacities. Gotta check the owner's manual

@@omarG19100 there actually is a filter for the Honda transmission. If you pause the video at the 3:00 mark, the hard line/rubber line left of the fill hole goes directly to the filter. It's bolted to the top of the transmission. You can access it between the air intake plumbing and the fuse box. It's a 30.00 part. Great video by the way to the OP. Quick and full of only the information needed.

retiredguy43 Only if it really bad. I would just drain and fill it if it's just routine maintenance.

Never flush a transmission that is this old. Just drain & fill.

Pull the atf return line from the radiator back to transmission, put a new hose at the radiator return barb, funnel the oil into a container. Run car and stop immediately when oil pressure drops, refill and check level

I went to the Honda dealer to get information on how much ATF this car took for a drain and fill they told me 2.63 quarts, so thats what I did drove it for a day then checked the atf and it hardly was on the dipstick. I looked this video up online and now I know its 3.5. My transmission does not feel the same my acceleration is not as good as it was feels slower. Wonder if I caused any damages?

Its 2.6 quarts for the 2.4 motor and 3 and a half quarts for the V6.

the 6 has a fill bolt on top back closer to the windshield...while 4 cylinder has a big enough dipstick opening to allow to fill through that

Anthony V I just checked AlData. And they recommend a tranny service at 120,000. I would double check your owners manual it should be in the maintenance section.

is the transmission oil pan replaceable? i cracked the drain hole while i was tightening the plug.

What we were draining on this vehicle is not a pan. If you strip that out the plug itself is replaceable. The threads can be re-tapped and threaded in the transmission.

@@HowtoAutomotive the drain plug is fine. however the top of the drain hole, a piece came out so i tried using a jb welder however it’s still leaking, i was wondering if the drain hole is replaceable?
