Great video! Managed to get mine done within 2 hours. Although, things I’d make sure to do: - Make sure the fill bolt can be loosed before loosening the drain bolt - Filled the fluid until it dropped out the fill bolt, and tightened the fill bolt as the car is running to ensure fluid level is full. In the video I see your brother stopped the engine. When I turned my ignition off a decent amount of fluid splurged out. Also saw another person do this on KZfaq! - Removing the seal for the filter. You’re already so deep into the process, doesn’t hurt to take the extra step to ensure everything’s good! Great job making this video! Really appreciated the guidance along saving me shop fees!

It is a good practice to loosen the fill bolt first before dumping the old fluid. The pan bolt pattern is X starting in the middle and ending at the front and the back. Using a pump intake that can screw to the fluid bottle top is always helpful mainly if used with a 4-quort transmission fluid bottle. A zip tie securing the fill hose to the cross member will keep it in place and avoid spills. or the fill, the trans fluid temperature should be about 100 C for topping off after running through the gears in manual and auto mode several times. For an accurate top-off, drive the car for a couple of days and check the level and make sure there are no leaks. Best of luck next time.

2011 328xi here, did mine last week. Oil came out super dark too. Took me like 45 min to figure out a way to take off the seal that goes before the filter, I was pissed. ended up using the tip of a open end wrench and bent it enough till it collapsed. messed up and forgot to skip through the gears. Ended up Filling with 7 quarts. Now I’m doing my diffs and trans case. I’ve never done any of this stuff before, I work on ebikes and drones 😂 cool video man thanks for posting

i think you were using the first pump backwards :P. the red tube was supposed to go in the bottle of fluid. nice video though helped me out

Good, I see someone already said to remove fill bolt first, all you need is for the fill bolt to be stock or stripped and not able to fill your trans fluid. About to tackle this job and have been watching everyone's vids on it, think I'm ready. lol another tip I seen people do is use a little bit of RTV sealer dotted around the gasket to help hold it in place while placing.

Definitely good practice to loosen fill bolt prior to draining, the first pump you had going backwards too. the spout is the output my guess is you were blowing bubbles in the full bottle

The car needs to be turned on with the fill plug off, and then fill the atf until it starts to dribble out and then tighten the fill plug. Usually about six quarts of atf is needed

Leave 2 back pan bolts 1/2 way in still that will allow you to un stick the pan and it will lower just enough light for the residual fluid to drain nicely out of the drain plug or allow u to securely lower it to your drain pan !

Great video but I’m too impatient to do all this especially at the end when you have to cycle through the transmission and then put more fluid in. I don’t have time for that! Lucky I can afford to have my car serviced at the dealer.

hey man, i have a 2008 bmw 328i 80k, never done a transmission fluid flush before. my mechanic told me he also has to change the transmission filter and gasket along with the transmission fluid. quoted me 700. does that sound right?
