Finally the only video I have been able to find that actually tells you how to change a tire, every other video just tells you how to swap an entire wheel.

Takes one hour to change a tire at a shop with tons of equipment and tools, when this guy only used tire irons, hammer and feet less than 6min. Well done my man

Hi all, Thanks to my friend Jim for posting. It's actually much easier than how I make it look. I haven't done this for a living for @ 12 years. I used to do this day in and day out on typically much larger vehicles. It is really a lot of fun but extremely physical. And FOR SURE, everyone you change a tire for, on the side of the road or at a jobsite, without question, is totally blown away AND stoked. Made my day every day. Thanks Jim for posting the video.

My father and I used to do this in the basement of our house , 2 or3 big bars , a 12 lb . Sledge hammer but we used to pour marvel mystery oil on the bead , pops gone I'm 72 now ,was about 10 back then but I'll still never forget it. By the way the tires were ten hundred / twenty truck tires.

That guy makes that shit look easy. I've spent 20 mins just trying to break the bead haha!

When I was maybe 19YO I had a little experience changing car tires on a machine. I was looking for work and saw an add for tire changer. I went to check it out and it was all big truck tires. Guy said here, watch this as he went to work on a big ass split rim with a honking big hammer. I noped the fuck out of there before he finished getting the old tire off. Even with these small tires, you are far more ambitious than I have ever been. Impressive.

I used to fix tires (mostly for large trucks and equipment), some car tires... a long, long time ago. Part of what makes this job easy is the tire spoons (pry bars) and hammer/wedge. You can improvise with other tools and it will take a little longer, but the techniques here are the biggies. Nicely done.

My grandfather showed me that trick but he used Starter fluid to inflate the tire. Good old fashion tricks that's why I always say nothing beats a classic.

The toss up and shorts grab at the end was perfect. This guy was incredible!

I was blown away by how quick Frank did this, even with everything at hand. He is obviously a strong man to make it look so easy. We live in Germany with American cars which means we can't take them to local repair shops for maintenance. I've had to learn to do all of the repairs for our cars myself. A few weeks ago, I changed out the starter for one of them in our driveway. This is an AWESOME video to add to my skillset over here. I'm gonna order some tire bars and a hammer and practice this hopefully until I can do it like you did in this video. Thanks a million for posting!!

Just wanna say I was fighting mounting tire back on until I noticed that you stepped on the rim in the middle and out your body weight on it and that's what I did and it work great thanks a lot!

DAM THIS GUY IS FREAKIN AWESOME! - Jacksonville Florida, every tire place you go, and I mean EVERY TIRE PLACE, they charge between $270 (40,000 mile tires) and $450-$500 (60,000 to 80,000 mile tire) for 4 brand new tire replacement. It's ridiculous. After 10 years of this crap, I got sick and tired and went to a U-pull-it and bought 2 used tires for $25 each and thanks to this video, I will put them on the front of my car. The back tires have fair tread so I only needed to replace the front 2. I just saved over $200 on replacing my front two tires. About 5 years ago I spent $270 on 2 brand new tires (they are now on the back of my car) and today, thanks to this video, I replaced my front 2 tires for $50 bucks. Got to love it. Eastcoast tire companies continue to RIP people off and this is what you get. I had worn tread on the left side of my tire and when it got a flat they refused to repair the flat saying that I needed to replace the tire. And my wife used fix-a-flat to repair fairly new tire and they said she ruined the tire. 4 tire places would not touch the tire because of fix-a-flat claiming it ruined the tire. I WILL NEVER USE A LOCAL TIRE COMPANY for my vehicle and my wife's vehicle on the Eastcoast ever again! SAVE YOUR MONEY FOLKS, watch this video and start replacing your own tires. DUDE! I had to change one of my truck tires today. I was too cheap to pay the local tire place. Your suggestion of using the drop center really came in handy. Not knowing this, I was trying to give it a go from the other side; didn’t happen. I did a mulligan and started over. Within 15 minutes, I had the new tire on! Thank you so much!

I did this last week in my driveway for the first time ever. 17 inch SUV rim. Took me 45 minutes and it kicked my ass. Afterwards I watched a KZfaq video and got it down to just over 30. I highly recommend using LOTS of whatever you're going to use as tire lube. My last time I got it down to 17min

Please DO NOT attempt without proper preparation. This technique requires at least one shot of whiskey chased with a 'light' beer of your choice - Bud or Miller will work just fine.

I have to say damn you made it look so easy

If you look at the base of older upright ratcheting bumper jacks, you will see that one side has a curved edge and one is straight. That curve is there to use for breaking the bead off of the wheel. By p[lacing it into the bead area and jacking up the weight of the car onto it. There are plenty of beads that will not come loose by simple pounding on them. Then the standard 18 inch lug bar was used to remove the tire from the wheel. I had to do this to graduate HS advanced auto shop. Using only the tools provided with the car.

You are skilled! I have the upmost respect for mounting tires by hand. My cousin use to do this, and then he'd use a foot pump to set the beads and seat/inflate with a bicycle pump.

OTC tools make a Nice Tire Hammer now (OTC 5789 )..5 pound tire hammer and a truck tire hammer 10 pound... Very easy to use like the KenTool....... Nice video
