Yes you can, but you would have to sandpaper the both ends of the battery before soldering them. Of course welding is better than soldering, but it's better than nothing I guess..

It can be soldered, I soldered nipples on lithium batteries that I salvage from a solar light and use them for other purpose.

@@alexandrudiculescu6996 There's much more to it than that. Max 3 seconds per solder joint. You need an iron thats a min of 60W preferably 80W or 100W. Any less and you'll never be able to flow solder on the cell in time. Yes, you do need to score the terminal so the solder has something to stick to but you also MUST use flux. Without flux you'll be spending half a century trying to get a GOOD solder joint on the terminal. Sure you can have a cold solder joint and watch your interconnect material fall off. Also I wouldn't suggest using wire like this video. The whole "fusing" lithium cells makes sense in a large pack of used cells but the wire he's using is good for.....5A? And has a shit ton of resistance. You'd want to use something like 14AWG stranded silicone wire with as little insulation removed as possible so you have insulation on the wire when it passes over the edge of the cell where the negative can joins the positive terminal. The one thing he did do right here (most likely was applied in the pack it was in previously) was having insulator rings on the positive. Those are a necessity for nickel strip but no matter what its a good safety feature. Also we use Kapton tape on batteries, its high tensile and high temperature. Electrical tape will fall right off or melt if your battery begins to go into thermal runaway so now you get to play 52 pickup with all the loose cells not knowing which ones are the bombs. I know it sounds crazy to have it all together but throwing one pack out the window is easier than picking up multiple pieces. (This is extremely rare for modern cells but still) To charge you MUST have a BMS preferably with a balancing circuit if you have more than one cell in series. Otherwise you risk overcharge, undercharge and an out of balance pack that leads to the first two without a protection circuit that cuts off charge/discharge based on individual cell voltage, not pack voltage.
