I just found this video in the morning and went to the range with all of my clubs. I might add these are 0311 PXG's that my wife bought for my birthday I was fitted at a golf course by a traveling PXG fitter and there were built at the factory. Interesting fact was he said he was going to have the clubs set at 3 degrees upright. I did your test and found three clubs that showed toe to low so I went into the driving range office and had them checked, my 6 iron was 3 degrees upright the other three clubs were 1 degree upright and 1 1/2 degrees upright. My good swing would put the ball to the right. Exactly what you would expect with those numbers. Amazes me that clubs directly from the factory are not correct. So great video and I would suggest as you do to test each club in the bag for the correct lie.

Strange thing about Ben Hogan and Lee Trevino is that their lie angles were both 6 degrees flat, and they were two of the greatest ball strikers ever.

Reading divots on turf works for this also, checking to see if the divot is deeper in toe or heel. But a caveat if just getting started in the game is that the force of the club releasing around the hands through before impact can pull a golfer off balance if their posture and dynamic leg tension aren’t prepare to react and counter the force which results in the entire body and swing plane tilting towards the ball and toe of the club digging in. The longer the club the greater the force and the more likely this is to occur. That type of balance problem is difficult to feel in mid swing but symptoms are being pulled onto the toes at impact and difficulty maintaining balance in the finish. As a starter at course I would watch beginners and intermediates loose balance like that and not have a clue their swing plane was tilting. The tilt pulls the club head over the line and puts it on and outside -in path relative to target. Sensing the hands swinging left of target their reflexive hand-eye coordinate would subconsciously try to steer back of hand towards target resulting in open face relative to the now tilted out-in path and a pull-slice. Not understanding what caused it they didn’t have a clue how to fix it which was learning how to stay in balance using drills like swinging a broom which exaggerate the force and make balance related posture problems more obvious and easier to fix.

Would anyone advise me why do we need to check lie angle of OUR clubs? Why not check it before we buy it?

My fitter did this last week, I thought omg this dude doesn't know what he's doing lol I was pretty straight up and down.

I have some clubs that are bent stronger loft 2* Do you think it's too complicated for a club fitter to have it exactly 1* strong instead ?

Although the 3 iron has less angular deflection, it travels further therefore it will end up equally far off the target line. They're all important

Sorry i dont agree. optimal lie angle depends on you swing plane near impact.not club's. you swinging left so ball launches from left. -0.7 and your straight shot launches from right +0.7. so you swing differntly.

Sorry, but when we're talking about making clubs mostly 3 degrees upright or flat, that's almost impossible to see with a thickly drawn line. 6 degrees is 1 minute on a clock face.
