@@NaturalAquaria So my Aquarium is at 80 degrees I want it at 76 to 77 degrees for my Tropical fish but I can't get it go down to now it was at 85 degrees where my Tropical fish are in. They're currently in a 37 gallon tank and I want to move them over into my 60 gallon tank and the 60 gallon tank has been staying at 78 to 77 degrees. But this a new tank been set up almost 48 hours now at this time been really monitoring the 60 gallon tank it was at 85 degrees so I lowered it a little this was when the light was on around 10 a.m. I work 3rd sift so it's normal for me to up at midnight and light was off and tank was at 73 degrees I moved up the temperature then it went to 77 degrees I left went out ate came home check the temperature now it's 78 degrees the light won't come on until 10 a.m. and turns off at 5 p.m. now in my 37 the heater is on the opposite side of tank away from the filter. in my 60 gallon tank the heater is next to the filter.

Great info! I have a 5 gallon tank and I ended up getting 2 heaters - a 25watt for use in warm weather months and a 50watt for use in winter because my ambient room temperature is quite cool in winter (my preference since I'm a cold weather type person), but warm in summer to save on the A/C ( I suffer but my betta is comfy). This has worked very well for me, plus I have the advantage of having a spare heater in case one dies for whatever reason. My tank has a hidden compartment at back for the pump and filter and I just put the heater there so I don't see it. Made sure it sits right next to the pump so the water flow keeps the entire tank at the same temp. Finding a very efficient and accurate heater that was small enough to fit in the back compartment was a bit of a challenge, but Hydor fit the bill. Their heaters are slim and short which is what I needed. Love these vids. Keep them coming!!

Tanks for the reply. Get it, tanks... Of course you get it. The other thing I want to mention is I did a DIY on one of those sealed filter cartridges, this one a Marineland Rite Size cartridge. I got tired of throwing out what looked like a perfectly good cartridge after about a month simply because the carbon was spent. I took the cartridge, ripped off the blue poly fiber to get at the compartment that houses the carbon. I bought some black foam sponge at Big Al's and cut it to size, got some bulk carbon and a media bag. I put in about 2 teaspoons of carbon into the media bag and place it into the cartridge area where the old carbon was, shoved that and the foam sponge into the plastic filter housing and presto I have a re-usable filter cartridge. I simply rise the foam sponge part about once a month, replace the carbon in the media bag and the cost is just pennies. Works great, no water flow reduction that I've noticed and the water is crystal clear and the ammonia, nitrate and nitrite are all good. I use a second foam sponge in the filter housing for extra bio mass. Just a thought, how about a DIY video giving tips and tricks to improve things and keep cost down. I think a lot of hobbyists would appreciate that. @@NaturalAquaria

Hi There Thank you for the nice video, I have 500 L aquarium discus fish I have inside 2 heaters 300 W each , fluval e 300 W and eheim E thermo control, and I have a 240 L also I install 2 heater 300 Watt eheim Jager and fluval as well. I noticed that the eheim jager the old model keep working more the the Eheim E thermo control Which basically means electricity consumption more. In your opinion which one of the eheim is good ? Would it be a good idea to change both and install 2 fluval E 300 instead . I am looking for those type which does not keep working most of the time . I live in Belgium so it is cold here but as well I fixed polystyrene sheet at all side of aquarium which help also. Please advise Thank you very much .

I have a thermometer in my 2.6 gallon Fluval betta tank, and it was in the lower end of the green which I assume is potential safety temperatures for my tropical fish LOL. So I decided to plug in the heater which is non-adjustable as it’s just a little one that sticks to the side of the wall for tanks less than 5 gallons. But now it’s over the green line level. Should I just leave it off? Or will he be OK At what looks to me to be about 82°.

What are some common problems with the cheaper preset heaters? I have a two livebeaerer tanks and I live in Hawaii and I've never had to heat my tank until we had a freak cold front here so I got a 100 watt preset aqueon and that was struggling so we had to put a 200 watt in as well.

2 important topics I think that should have been covered are "submersible" vs "fully submersible" and heater failures. (Maybe using 2 under rated (wattage) heaters instead of 1 bigger heater. If one sticks on, hopefully the under rated heater doesnt cook the fish; if it sticks off, the other heater still provides some heat.

Hi there thanks for the nice vedio. I have an African cichild aquarium 240L juwel which come with internal filter 200 watts but since I am living in Belgium and the weather is cold I feel that the juwel 200 watts us struggling all the day around to achieve the correct set temp. But on the other hand it coast money because it runs almost all day . So I am thinking to change the heater but still confused which one to choose Eheim Jagger or Fluval E and how many watts shall I take 200 Watt or the 300 Watt which will work less to heat the 125 L But thinking about eheim with missy african cichlif Malawi there a risk of breaking the heater so please pick for me a good brand and if you think there is a brand which can be less consuming of electricity please tell me which one . Thanks a millions in advance for your help . Nasir

In my experience, I found that heaters across different brands are not equal. I have a 25w in one 10g aquarium and 50w in the other and the slightly more pricey 25w does a far better job at keeping the temperature in the correct zone. I've also had it for several years with no problems. I've had to crank the temp to an uncomfortable level to get the the other tank into the correct zone and it's still a few degrees below the other tank. I wonder if that is why the plants grow slower in the other tank? I am worried about turning it up anymore...

I wanted to switch to a inline heater, but after making some research, not much. I came up with the conclusion that it is less energy effective. Overall: There is a bigger loss of heat to the surrounding air, and is has to work harder, because there is a lot less water to heat. Also the calculation of how many litres/gallons that purses by in an hour. X plus Y = I gave up😳 Just one more time for me😒 Dos it make sense for me to switch to a inline heater, if I am thinking about efficiency?
