Hello how to calculate scale on y axis and x axis (division and unit)

You say that certain numbers would not be easy to plot based on the number of big squares divided by range, but this is exactly the problem I have. When I get the range of my data and divide it is not an easy number. For example, one of my ranges is 9.15. I have 10 big squares vertically and horizontally. Dividing it would result in .0915. This is the area I am stuck on to make my scale. Please respond, it would be greatly appreciated.

Hi DA Since one big square is about 0.09, keep it to one big square to 0.1 would solve your problem. Regards.

Is it possible that if the numbers are too close to each other (for example: biggest value is -1.8 and lowest is -2.39 so 2.39-1.8=0.5) that this method is not working? Thank you for your time!

@@Tinghca here is my data On x axis 1.0,0.50,0.33,0.25,0.20,0.17 these are the values of inverse of width of a paper strip in cm which is to be torsionaly oscilated and here are the values of time period T along y axis 6.58,3.11,1.84,1.30,1.07,0.913

Range for x axis is 1-0.17 = 0.83, rounding it to 0.9, however you only have 8 big squares, 0.9 divide by 8, 7, 6, or 5 wouldn’t give you a easy value to plot. So just round the range to 1.0 and use 5 big squares so as to include all values. The y axis values can fit quite easily because the range can be rounded off to 6 and you have 12 big squares.

how would I plot a graph having 1.8 as minimum values and maximum value 3.17
@averagedud

Sova Sarkar ur range would be equal to 1.37 rounding it off would come to 1.4. So u can use 7 big squares which would give u 1big square =0.2

marking assessment criteria dictate it. size area of plotted points, end to end should occupy 3/4 the size of the allotted graph area.
