How to choose scion for grafting, whether shoot grafting or insert grafting and other types of grafting are basically very easy to do. In essence, the scion used for grafting must be healthy and not attacked by fungi and pests. Another supporting factor for the scion used for grafting is that it is almost the same age as the rootstock. This means that if the rootstock or seedling that will be connected is old, then choose an old scion that will be connected. Vice versa, if the rootstock is still young then choose a young scion to be grafted. If the above conditions are met and the process carried out in grafting is technically correct, then the connection or grafting, whether shoot grafting or insert grafting, will have a high success rate and maximum speed of grafting success. Usually, if all the technical requirements for grafting are correct, the buds will start to grow 10 days after the grafting process is carried out. In this video, we demonstrate the selection of scion and grafting on a mango tree and grafting an avocado, but the selection of scion applies to all types of plants that will be grafted. Either fruit plants or ornamental plants.
