Having had loads of problems with my feet, I made the two hour trip to see Dan for a shoe fitting, which was one of the best things I’ve ever done to help improve my comfort on the bike. With Dan’s experience and knowledge of Lake shoes, he was not only able to guide me towards the correct size, but more importantly, the right model for my feet. End result was a pair of the new CX333s, which have made a huge difference, not only to the comfort of my feet, but somewhat surprisingly, to my overall comfort on the bike. I’d tried several pairs of top end shoes in recent years, which felt like they fit, but it was only when I finally found the right shoes for my feet did I realise how wrong the previous shoes were. If you’re thinking about getting some shoes, and in particular Lakes; take a trip to see Dan - you won’t regret it.

This is so cool to hear, thanks for taking the time to write that and I’m glad Dan sorted your feet out. As you’ve found, the ‘best’ shoes aren’t always the best, and Dan will sell you what’s best for you 👍

Hahaha I failed to mention the Giro shoes I have are too narrow for me on long rides but they're blue so I stick with them :D

Maybe I'm about 637 years old, but I remember as a kid those weird foot measuring machines they had in shoe shops. The ones where you stood on a platform, stuck your foot in a hole on the platform, the floor lit up and the machine closed up and measured your foot. Whatever happened to those and why doesn't UK Bike Fit have one? I'm outraged! 🫣🤥

So apparently those machines from Clarks were made by Qinetic, who Clarks just awarded a multi-million pound contract to for a new 3D foot measurement system. Oddly, Qinetiq primarily design and make military defence, weapons systems and cyber resilience solutions.... Make of that what you will next time you go to Clarks and get your feet measured!

@@TriathlonDan it gets more intriguing! An article on BBC News states that the new 3D foot measuring systems in Clarks shops use the same cameras that Qinetiq first deployed for tank warfare!
