Question: I've got a late model RV TH400/475...has the brake drum on the back...I'm removing the drum and retrofit ting this into my 64'C10... I was wondering should I change the tail house cone and or utilize a fixed yolk or preferably utilize a slip? Any suggestions? Thanks! 🙏🙏🙏 Transmission came out of a 91' Bounder Motorhome

With the truck output shaft the yoke with the o-ring looked short when on all the way and when you pull it back the 1/2 u joint[.500"] the o ring would be out of the yoke.

Hi Michael, the o-ring will be out of the yoke, at middle-stroke or rest, but it would not allow the yoke to plunge and would stop the travel of the yoke into the tailhousing, creating problems. Hope that helps!

Why do they remove spines on the input shaft? Like on your 32 but one removed. Isn't it weaker than a full 32 spline input? I bought a 30 spline input yoke and it was the correct part for my 32 spline input yoke. I have a 1992 Chevy Cheyenne 4x4. Nv3500 5 speed transmission.

Hi Kevin, thanks for your question. The missing spline has a purpose, which is to allow venting as the slip yoke moves back and forth. If this was not present, the yoke would air lock, preventing full travel. Without this travel, driveline damage could occur. Hope that helps!

OK very nice but I am looking for a yoke for 700r4 I know the diameter and Summit Racing having 10 of them but with a different length, and what next ???

If you could be so kind as Please help me with this as I am running into walls researching this. I only need to know the 'Correct' size slip yoke (# of splines & spline diameter, C/L of u-joint to end of yoke, width at the yoke, & width at the u-joint) for the Ford T-10 4 speed transmission that was originally used on a 1965 Ford Mustang w/289 V8 .... the 'Standard issue (nothing special)' T-10 4 sp. for the 'standard issue (nothing special)' Ford 289 bell housing. [I believe T-10s were used thru 1966 Mustangs ... and after 1966 Toploader 4 sps replaced T-10s. Hopefully my study of history is correct]. I am sure my transmission is a T-10 4 sp transmission because it is stamped as such (stamped T-10) and it is currently bolted to my C-code 289 on my 1965 Ford Mustang Convertible, & it bolted right onto the 289's bell housing without any 'modification'. Keep in mind the slip yoke needs to connect to the 'factory stock driveshaft' for the 'factory stock 8" rear end' (factory stock 8" open differential), AND my 1965 Mustang has been 'upgraded' to this T-10 4 sp from the 'factory stock' 3 sp manual transmission that was 'factory stock' original to the car. I Think, but am not positive the 1965 Mustangs used the Same Exact driveshaft with the factory stock 3 sp manual and T-10 4 sp manual transmissions. Is this the case? My online research has been little help, nor have the 'Experts' at various 'Vintage Mustang Specialists' companies. They all seemed clueless, and this seems to me like a 'simple' question they should know right off the top of their heads. Their websites do not say what specific model transmissions their slip yokes are for, just saying "3 or 4 sp manual or automatic & V6 or V8 engines". This is very frustrating to say the least. This seems it should be a "simple" search for the 'Correct' slip yoke simply searching: "Slip yoke for Ford T-10 4 sp. transmission for pre 1966 Ford Mustang", but the search engines won't make it 'that simple', hence why I am now asking you for your assistance. I thank you Profusely if you can source me the 'Correct' slip yoke. I may even buy this slip.yoke from You for a couple of reasons: You actually helping and sourcing, and I've come across many 'online rumors' the T-10's slip yokes are "weak" compared to the Toploaders, hence Why Ford switched to Toploaders over T10s in 1966. Does it matter if you put a yoke on 180° out? As long as the universals are all in phase is it ok?

I am trying to find a slightly longer 32 spline slip yoke for a dodge Dakota 4x4 that has a 242D . I am losing my mind over this lol . I bought a 242D transfer case which is the same as the 242hd .why can't I find the right slip yoke for dodge Dakota. I am swapping out a 249j out of a jeep grand Cherokee .I need a 32 spline slip yoke for dodge 242d rear output shaft .

Why is so hard to find a yoke for my chevy cheyenne 1992 mexican model with the 5.7 tbi engine and 700 r4 transmission single cab short bed! I went to autozone 3 times and they always have the wrong stuff ! 3 times !

Getting the right slip yoke can be challenging! Unfortunately, with older vehicles it’s very common that the driveshaft isn’t stock and the U-joints aren’t OE, so looking for an aftermarket slip yoke using only vehicle information is nearly impossible. If EVERYTHING in your vehicle is OE, then a yoke can be ordered by VIN at a Chevy dealer. If you’re looking for an aftermarket part, though, especially a high performance slip yoke like those from Sonnax, then the first step is to take all the appropriate measurements and then work with a retailer to make sure they have what you need. As many have found, even that doesn’t always get you the right part. The retailer may not have all the critical yoke specs listed or understand how to accurately describe the product. If you need more assistance choosing a Sonnax slip yoke after watching this video and researching yoke options at www.sonnax.com/slip_yokes, you can contact a Sonnax driveline product specialist at (800) 843-2600. Have all the info about your old yoke and/or transmission/driveshaft ready, as that will be needed to identify the right Sonnax part for your vehicle.

What is alignment key, match up the key with the keyway?

I have a 32 splin on the out put and 31 splin on the in put that is missing a spline

@@charmainenaone563 Most transmission slip yokes are designed with a spline missing, so they are 31 splines based on 32, for example. The missing spline is so the yoke can move freely on the output shaft without getting air locked. There is no need to line this up, it’s not a key way, only a missing spline. What is the part # for the bolt on yoke for a 4l80e?

Hi Nicolas, we don’t offer a bolt-on-yoke for a 4L80E. That would be an OE style yoke, so you would most likely refer to your GM dealer for that one. Thanks for reaching out!

1995 GMC (2WD) c1500 vibration... I've checked everything, now I'm thinking it's because the yoke sticks out of my automatic transmission 2-1/4".

Hi, thanks for your comment. This video is actually meant to explain how to choose the correct slip yoke - not how to build and measure a driveshaft. There are too many transmission types, types of vehicles they are put in, and ways those vehicles are used to say how much a slip yoke needs to slide. For example, a TH400 in an independent suspension car doesn’t need to move hardly at all, whereas a dirt oval racer with feet of suspension travel will need the yoke to be able to move a great deal. Not all are the same. That’s also why there are different length slip yokes. Each individual build and application should be discussed with your driveshaft manufacturer to determine the correct amount of slip in and out for your build, and how to measure the driveshaft assembly properly.
