I just found you. Been wearing wigs about 1 year. Yes! Lots of learning. I found the best for me was to go to a wig salon. One who sells many brands. Get a good education. They style for you, wash and set if you want them to do it instead of yourself. That said… I wish I had someone in the beginning BEFORE I bought from the internet or found my wig salon. It would have saved a lot of money. I’m finally confident to buy from the internet. Would have bought low density as you suggested, and a lace front as I like my hair off my forehead. I’ve subscribed. Thanks for being real.😍

Another great video! I'm new and feel like I've spent the last 2 months ONLY watching wig videos. It's the COLORS that are messing me up. I decide "that's the color I want!" then I see another video where the person describes the color completely opposite in their video and when they show it in natural light/outside I think "that's a warm color, not cool!" I've been studying the number codes. Just want to find something as close as possible to my bio hair to start out.

Thank you, and that's okay. Just take your time and inform yourself. Color is the hardest thing of all even watching all of the videos. It's still difficult some of it is truly just trial-and-error. But you're doing the right thing by watching all the videos and trying to learn.

The very best thing to do when you first start, get something close to what your normal hair looked like. It takes a while to find the right color and the right style, lots of us go through many wigs. I’m finally branching out, but I bought my first one about five years ago. (And trust me when I say, it wasn’t one! It was many). God bless!

If I find a color I like, I go to Name Brand Wigs, if they have the brand, look for the color. When you click on it, a picture of that color comes up, with a description of what blends are in it. That helps me a lot.

If you're looking for cool tone brunette hair, I recommend Jon Renau 8RH14, and 10RH16. In Rene of Paris and Noriko, I like Coffee Latte. In Raquel Welch I love Iced Mocha and Iced Java, although anything in their "iced" series will be a cool tone. As long as you understand the return policy of the site where you like to purchase, I suggest that you just jump in and try something. It doesn't take too long to get a feel for what colors make you look beautiful. Be patient with yourself.

Oh yeah, first wig low density. My first wig was Raquel Welch Voltage 😮 wowza that was a lot of poofy hair 😂 lesson learned. A lot of good information 👍 great video

This was such a helpful video, Alicia. In my opinion, Zoe from Rene of Paris is another great starter wig. She runs a little shorter than Coco, and her density is fairly light; I didn't even have to trim the bangs. With a basic cap, she is very reasonably priced. You're doing a great job!

Thank you that is very sweet. Well, my hair had been thinning for years and it got to the point where it was just bald in a few spots. It just got to where I couldn't manage it anymore. All the trips to the beauty shop trying to figure out how to cover up. The bald spot sniffing was working so 1 day. I just typed in wigs on KZfaq. And that was the beginning. Hi Alicia…You’re on fire with these helpful videos by delving into all the concerns us newbies have early on in our wig journeys, and you explain every point so well. Your recommendations of the pixie, EW Coco, and longer wigs, Cherry & Avery, are three wigs I will definitely consider. I really like those styles. What blonde colors did you choose for Cherry & Avery? Even though I came from an era when “grown out roots” were frowned upon, I do like the look of the rooted colors, but not too dramatic. As another viewer mentioned, choosing wig colors is a challenge. Those little online color pics aren’t large enough to really see the wig colors properly, and don’t always end up being nearly as close to what you thought the color would be. Hi, I know, choosing color can be difficult. Cherry is in butterbeer blonde by belltress and Avery is in 10/613gr by Henry Margu. I'm so happy if my videos are helpful. I let my small grands see and touch the wigs. My youngest granddaughter is 2. I ask them if they like my hair and make them part of it. They see me in different hair everyday and now they don't even say anything. I understand what you're saying. I think if we talk to them about it it helps. Mine don't think a thing about it now.

Thanks for your wonderful videos. I am a real new wig wearer (2 weeks). I still have some hair, so at home i dont wear it. I am having problems keeping it from sliding up in the back. I have tried got to be glued, spray, head bands nothing is working can you help. Please i am so frustrated

Hi, I'm glad you were here. Try using a piece of Walker's double-sided tape at your nape. Put it on the inside of your wigcap at the nape and then press down to your neck. It may attach to some of your hair, but you can take it off with alcohol and q tip. Before you do that, make sure your wig is adjusted properly. Make sure you have the adjusters situated correctly to fit your head. Try this and if you are still having issues. Please get back with me because honestly it should not be doing that if the wig fits you properly everywhere else.
