FYI to everyone: Make sure the oil slinger faces the correct way. If not you’ll have issues…. Ask me how I know 😂

Good job dude. Silverline bearings aren’t as good as they use to be. I’ve found the tang on the rod bearings need a slight file to fit into the groove properly so the rods don’t bind up. Keep up the great work!

Hey thanks! It’s been a few years since I’ve put a motor together. I assumed the Silverlines were still good. Who’s making better stuff now? I liked the Mahles but I couldn’t find another set. Ended up with Kolbenschmidts I think?
@VWJawbreaker Жыл бұрын
@@wickedwerks both of those are good, Kolbs if you can find them over silver lines. The engine I just did I had to use the silver lines and had to slightly file the tang… it’s all I could find locally. I didn’t record it due to being sick and I have plenty of engine vids in my playlists 😂

Good series. I haven’t done a engine yet, but soon thanks for letting us fallow, along.

Finally I can see what "doing an engine split" looks like. Everybody mention it but trys to avoid it. I don't wrench, only watch the stuff.

Good refresher, its been a long time since I helped my dad rebuild a VW engine so there is quite a lot of the steps that I forgot. My uncle taught me to use STP oil treatment as an assembly lube. Great Job!

NOS, Kolbenschmidt, Metal Leve, Glyco, Mahle, rods & main bearings are the ones to use. New bearings now days can go either way, as you noticed.
