In this video I take you on a deep cleaning journey on my dads Camp Chef Woodwind Wifi 24! These cleaning methods can be applied to most if not all pellet grills and smokers. Its just about grilling season so come check out this How to Clean a Grill video! Welcome to Anderson's SmokeShow!
I am affiliate for Camp Chef. Sales made through my these links will result in commissions:

With the spring just around the corner that means that grilling season is just a few weeks away. No better time to get out you Camo Chef pellet grill and give it a good deep cleaning. Not only will this make your grill run much more efficiently, it will also make your food taste better and be safer to operate. Grease fires in grills are no joke.
I take a top-bottom cleaning approach where I start with the racks and work all the way to the bottom... scraping and cleaning everything all the way down to the bottom of the pellet grill. I use a few different tools and grill cleaners during this video. All of the links are down towards the bottom..
Here are the cleaning products and utensils used:
Don't start your cook off with a dirty grill or smoker! Get yourself a GOOD bristle-free grill brush like the ones sold by Grillaholics: www.grillaholi...
CitruSafe Grill Cleaning Spray: amzn.to/2zpirJU
Simple Green Heavy Duty BBQ & Grill Cleaner: amzn.to/3dtMsH8
Goo Gone Oven & Grill Cleaner: amzn.to/3c2FiL6
Goo Gone Grill Cleaner: amzn.to/3eeUcQP
Parker & Bailey Grill Cleaner: amzn.to/3kWcIyT
Plastic Putty Knife: amzn.to/3bnp5NS
These methods can be used on pretty much any pellet grill or pellet smoker including: Pit Boss, weber smokefire, camp chef woodwind wifi 36, rider dlx pellet grill, Rec Tec, Yoder Smokers, Oklahoma Joes, Traeger, Pit Boss, Pitts & Spitts, etc!
Thanks again for watching Andersons Smokeshow! I hope that this video encourages you to get out and prepare your grill for an awesome 2021 Grill Season!

Big Bub: Have a standard woodwind SG 36 and really love it. After my first clean with all the dried drippings I have started coving the drip pan with aluminum foil. It’s cut that clean time 60-70% and yes I cut the holes out in the foil.

One of the best arguments I've see for not getting a pellet grill. A good quality drum or kamado-style cooker can simply be brought to a high temp and all grease, etc is reduced to dust. Brush/vac it out and you are done. Add a fan/controller and they can precisely maintain any temperature indefinitely and function as a true grill as well- no need for a 'sidekick'. Plus you get wifi, graphing of your cooker and food temperatures as well. I am not saying no one should get a pellet grill, just that there are viable alternatives.

I clean my Camp Chef in the fall before I put it away for the Winter. I clean EVERYTHING, vacuum everything out, wipe everything off, even the lid. Then put some canola oil on the metal grates and the grease tray so they don't rust and put it away with the cover on. In the spring, fire it up on 350 for 20 minutes or so and it's ready for another summer of cooking. The other thing I do after every 2 cooks is wipe that grease through with some shop wipes are towels that I have they come in a roll like paper towels. And in the spring I buy a big pack of the grease pale liners, you can buy them from Amazon. I'll use them 2 or 3 times then throw it away and put a new liner in.

I inherited a Traeger, probably 8 to 10 years old. I doubt it has ever been thoroughly cleaned. I noticed that it doesn’t smoke much in the startup mode whereas the new Camp Chef I have in my Washington home does. The other thing I noticed was the difficulty I was having getting the drip tray to sit evenly where the grease drain is located. Then I saw this video. A quick examination of the interior led me to a quick trip to the local hardware store for cleaning supplies. I could not believe all the crud that came off the inside. The pan was not sitting properly because of all the baked on debris in the groove. Good tip on the putty knife. In one spot where the hardened debris was especially thick I had to use a metal putty knife. The other great tip was cleaning off the temperature regulator. Sprayed some Parker’s on steel wool and discovered that it had metal under all the baked on tar. This morning I fired it up to burn off the chemicals. Lo and behold lots of smoke came rolling out in startup. I see some smoked hindquarters in my future. And the Traeger looks great. What is your feeling about putting aluminum foil over the drip pan? This Traeger has a solid metal tray, unlike the Camp Chef which has the slits in the pan. One other question. A friend of mine one of those grill mats you see advertised on TV. He says it works as advertised. Does anyone have any feelings about them?
@AndersonsSmokeShow
@AndersonsSmokeShow 3 жыл бұрын
A clean grill goes a long way!! I don’t put foil on mine, but that’s just me. There’s no issue in using it on your Traeger. I’ve used grill mats for things in the past like vegetables, but I like to keep as many obstructions out of the way of my protein as possible. I do use wire racks when applicable to the protein...

I have the new GE indoor smoker and use PAM on the rails and racks and it does great. Would spraying or wiping the painted inside walls make it easier to remove the sticky smoke residue? That's what I find hardest to clean. I'm scared to use bbq cleaners on it and Dawn takes a lot of elbow grease and time.

Some of that can be tough to get off. If it’s somewhat thick I’d try a plastic putty knife to scrape some of the excess off, then try the cleaner. Also letting it warm up in the sun (if that’s an option) may help loosen it up. Cleaning a cold smoker is tough so I’d assume the same would apply to your situation as well.

I love grilling but man cleaning grills just plainly suck! To get the grill pristine clean you literally have to clean after you finish grilling. Not perfect but at least get the black burnt skin, sugar, Sauce and grease from the fat and oil. You have to get those off asap after finishing grill because it’s harder to clean and more work if you leave that stuff sit there.
