HOW TO: Clean a Riso GR Drum

How we clean our Riso GR drums at Risolve Studio. We often clean our own drums for various reasons. In this case, we are changing a black drum to a light blue drum. We hope this video will have some helpful tips for those working with older Riso equipment.

Wow this is a pretty amazing deep clean, thank you so much for sharing this! I never went that far, cleaning the entire pump unit as well. Basically I was cleaning the squeegee roller, doctor roller and screen, replacing rusted screws and the like; readjusting squeegee gap and ink blocking plates after cleaning. However, therefore I guess I had to print significantly more test prints in order to get the new ink 100%, without residue or old ink remnants left in the prints. Next time I will try doing it your way, as I found it so much better than the way I do. Once again, thank you for sharing your knowledge and please keep your drums flowing, weehh :D

Thanks for the video, it's awesome, but I think I won't be able to do it. I have obtained a mz770 but it has not been used for 2 years and it has very dirty drums, well, the whole machine is quite dirty between dust and masters left in the drums, half-dried inks. a disaster. It would be great to be able to access a video where a more general first cleaning is explained, before getting into the drums so thoroughly. You know where I can find a video with this info? Or could you make one? Thank you for all the info and these beautifully detailed videos.

Finishing up my first drum! Thank you so much for this resource. Any advice on getting extra stubborn dried ink spots out of the drum mesh? I’ve read about trying diesel fuel? Thanks :)

WD40 or kerosene can be used as an alternative to diesel, just make sure to clean the mesh well with alcohol afterwards.

That ink distributer looks a lot nicer to clean than the ones in RP type drums...any tips for that are welcome..

We have more and more RISO duplicators in graphic arts companies and we are faced with print quality problems such as irregularities in color areas. This phenomenon is mainly ink that dries on the drum (non-regular use), we must then clean the surface of the drum body and silk (gasoline F) but despite this cleaning, it can remain traces and we must then replace the silk to make the flat color perfect. Is there a solution to clean the silk ( screen asy ) effectively to avoid its replacement (eg, soak the silk in a special product).

Hello. I watch your video about the Drum clean. I have a question about the color drum for GR3750. This drum has an Ink sensor PCB Board. On this Board, in addition to two ink sensors, there is a light lamp. What is its purpose? When does it light up and when doesn't it? After assembling the drum, it stopped emitting light. What did I do wrong? I hope for your advice. Sincerely, Mash kola Olga .

Hola . buenos tus vídeos. Tengo una risograph gr3770. Empezó a fallar.cuando le digo hacer un máster, hace todo la función pero la papel del máster no lo entinta y queda colocado pero sin tinta.y cuando mandas hacer una impresión de prueba la hoja de queda adentro y no termina de salir .

And I've been having the same inking problem with the ricoh Duplicator and the drum is not inking and also the drum is making several rotating cycles after those cycles the machine is asking to replace the ink cartridge and is there any other way to get any other tips and solution thank you

Damn, good work. At what point do you start calling this a "rebuild"? That "cleaning" station is amazing. Look up "invaluable employee" and it should have your pic.
