This actually seam like alot of work for something that's really not that hard. For the grease just use a general purpose cleaner with a PH around 8 or above (or a steam cleaner) then for the hard stains use a acid cleaner (PH 2-4). If you got a big build up of hard stains auch as calcium you can even go below that such, like fosfor. You can also use acids like vinegar and citric acid. These tent to be hard to "stick" without the surface active agent that's usually added in a typical cleaning product. Today there is alot of very good cloths and sponges that rely on Microfiber to minimize the amount of chemicals you need. Check out the Sinner's Circle and stop listening to nonsense

Wow. What a setup - just when I feel like I've got my bathroom cleanings down pat with a basic sponge, scrub brush, and paper towels/window cleaner, you show me how much more opportunity there is for so much more detail with your tools and equipment. There's no way I would have imagined - not in a million years - using an ozone machine 😅 I didn't know that existed until. One suggestion might be as I have purchased recently would be a pump up sprayer Chapin beach and disinfectant bottle comes to mind. Small light weight, just pump a couple of times and spray away. Less atomization will occur and the product will be targeted to where you want it. No spray bottle hand pumping required although it looks to be a good workout for the forearms.. ;) .. Probably dedicate the bottle to beach use.

Years ago I lived in a house with a plastic shower floor that got dirty very quickly, despite maintenance cleaning. I found a solution that took a very long time, but worked for me. It's not something pros would use, they don't have this time, and do have better tools. After the last morning shower, I coated the shower floor with a layer of Dawn dish detergent. I used enough to cover the floor, but not enough to run down the drain. I then let it sit all day, 12 hours or more. In the evening, I came back and scrubbed with a wet tank brush, then rinsed. It left the floor nice and clean.

@@dinarusso3320 I would not do it ... part of the reason Dawn works well is that it has an alkaline pH. Vinegar is an acid, if you mix them, you neutralize the pH. For the same reason, I don't mix baking soda and vinegar. Either can clean some things alone, together they neutralize each other.

Hi Amanda, excellent question. It depends on the type of grout and the surface type of what the grout is connecting. You will be safe using bleach on a sanded grout and ceramic tile. When in doubt, you can't go wrong with steam. And what you have to be careful of is the chemical strength you are using if you are cleaning natural stone showers since they are so easy to ruin with the wrong chemicals. *Read your Safety Data Sheets.

Hi!! Great information as always. Does the ozone machine do More than the air quality?
@AskAngelaBrown
@AskAngelaBrown 2 жыл бұрын
Ozone is an amazing science that is a show in an of itself. Yes, it kills surface mold spores as well as decompose the airborne contaminates and fumes from the bleach. The reason we use it here is so there are no lingering bleach fumes for customers (homeowners) to breathe after the job is complete. And in this case, the house cleaner has to go back in and clean the bathroom - so we don't want them breathing fumes either.

Happy Holidays, May you and yours be well. What do you suggest as far as cleaning moldy and paint chipping walls?
@AskAngelaBrown
@AskAngelaBrown 2 жыл бұрын
Happy Holidays to you too Martha, and may you and your family be well too. If your walls are moldy that suggests too much moisture in the air. And if the paint is chipping the walls could be deteriorating. If it was my house I'd call a mold remediation company to come out and do an inspection. They might be able to give you a better answer after they measure the moisture in your attic and crawlspace.

You said to spray the bleach from top to bottom but not on the glass or hardware. I see you have travertine tiles in your shower like I do. I've used products with bleach in it and it seemed to permanently lighten the tile and now it looks like hard water stain. Did you spray your tile too, without damage? Thanks for sharing your knowledge! I enjoy watching your videos.

The tile in this video is glazed ceramic title with a sealed sanded grout. Bleach is safe for this combination. Before using it on travertine, make sure the travertine is sealed. Bleach is safe for non-porous, sealed hard surfaces like ceramic tile.

Great explanations! I have a rarely used steamer. I have some grout that would be improved by it. I have a question. My experience with sprayers and bleach is that the bleach seems to make the sprayer fail after a week or two. I dilute the bleach, but the failure still happens. The only time it didn't happen was I used the bottle from Clorox Cleanup and made homemade version and I used that bottle for months. I don't know what magic the Clorox people build into their bottles. Have you found that issue with bleach and your sprayers?
@smokyofstormwind420
@smokyofstormwind420 2 жыл бұрын
when I have been using undiluted bleach in sprayers, I flush out the sprayer tube after each use with fresh water, to get the bleach out of the sprayer nozzle and tube, if you leave it with bleach, when the bleach dries it crystallizes, causing the nozzle to get blocked.
@AskAngelaBrown
@AskAngelaBrown 2 жыл бұрын
Hi Mindy, you'll notice in this video in both the talking part of the video (and the demo) the spray bottle arrived empty. No bleach is in the spray bottle before or after the job. We use a professional spray bottle and fill it on site, over a porcelain sink. After using the spray it goes back in the bleach jug as it was used full strength and not mixed with anything. We never transport bleach in the spray bottles and the spray bottles are flushed with water after each use. This prevents clogs, spills, and future misuse. Great question

@@AskAngelaBrown Good to know. Thank you for the response. One thing to add is that when I worked in biotech for many years we would use a diluted bleach solution 1:10. It would kill mold and bacteria following a minimum 30 minute contact time and it would not corrode stainless steel at that concentration and short contact time. You may want to dilute your solution to save money, reduce toxic fumes, and reduce the probability of damage to hardware and metal framing in the enclosure from overspray. It’s worth a try, even though bleach is very inexpensive at the moment. Start with a 10% bleach solution and titrate up if not seeing the desired effect. Thanks again!

I'm glad you clarified this because I was feeling VERY uncomfortable about the use of undiluted bleach on what appeared to be travertine stone tiles. I don't think that would be a good idea, travertine is such a porous stone and requires quite careful treatment. @@AskAngelaBrown

Accidental staining happens so quickly with bleach. I try to never bring it to jobs. I’d probably pour the bleach using a funnel outside by an outside water hose and carry the spray bottle inside the house in a 5 gallon bucket.
@AskAngelaBrown
@AskAngelaBrown 2 жыл бұрын
To avoid accidental staining, please pour the bleach over a porcelain sink. We transport bleach into homes in the bleach bottle itself (with a locked lid) to avoid this very costly mistake. It eliminates carrying a 5 gallon bucket. When we are done spraying, the unused bleach goes back into the bottle with the locked lid and the spray bottle is flushed onsite before leaving the porcelain sink.

Bleach may kill mold well, but it leaves a salty crystalline light colored dry residue in the tile grout, almost harder to get out than calcium buildup. Sometimes it looked whiter than calcium. The calcium deposits were a very slight yellow hue whereas the bleach residue is pure white. (We have a water softener so the calcium builds up rather slowly compared to my previous homes...but anyways you could really see a bleach residue buildup I described above, even after just one single bleach treatment). The whole personal protection gear is overkill if it's your own house...I used spray bleach all over the place while showering with nothing on, and it never made any of my body parts fall off or get irritated for that matter. To channel my inner Stanley Kubrick: "I love the smell of bleach in the morning." I used a toothbrush to work it into the grout. But I had better luck with phosphoric acid available at the tile shop or ordered online. That stuff seems to remove everything that is unwanted and made the shower look like new, except for the joints I had to caulk with pure silicone color matched to my grout, then it looked like new, lol. It even managed to get a decade of calcium buildup off a very expensive heavy glass door...well that and a grey colored ultrafine scotch brite pad.

If the toilet has a black where the water comes I how can you get rid of it ty
@AskAngelaBrown
@AskAngelaBrown 2 жыл бұрын
The first steps are to check the toilet tank and see what color the water is and is there anything in the tank that would cause black water. The second thing is to look at your toilet brush. Do you have a brush with a rim cleaner? And the third thing to look at is how frequently do you clean under the rim? Are you on city or well water? Once we know what is causing the black, we can clean it once and then maintain it.

Its just a lot better. the 3M P100 Multi-Purpose Half Face Respirator with a quick release latch is super easy to use and its very pleasant and healthy to just be breathing clean clear air as you are doing this sort of thing. I also put a hair cover. ...ah, I also see with the ozone that you are not in there long with the bleach fumes..
@AskAngelaBrown
@AskAngelaBrown 2 жыл бұрын
What a great idea. I agree, if you are going to be using any strong chemicals for a length of time a proper respirator is an excellent idea. This is the "better than nothing" PPE version where the only thing in the house we are using bleach on is a single shower. (Most professionals won't carry a proper respirator for a few seconds of applying bleach - and I'd rather them have some cover than none.) Which is why in this video we recommend holding your breath while spraying the bleach - so you're not actively breathing during the application process. Your idea is better - IF YOU CAN GET ALL CLEANERS TO GO THAT ROUTE.

Do I still need to use an ozone machine if a bathroom window can be left opened?
@AskAngelaBrown
@AskAngelaBrown 2 жыл бұрын
No, the smell of bleach will eventually go away on it's own. Ventilation is the key to this though. It often takes a full day (even with ventilation) for the bleach fumes to disappear. If you've got to go back in the bathroom to clean, you'll wish you had used an ozone machine. They are less than $70 amzn.to/3lud15B and are a long-term investment in healthy lungs.

No. In this video it is glazed ceramic tile with a sanded grout. Under the soap container there were streaks that were bleeding down from soap drips but that came up with the steamer. Good point though, you do have to be careful about using chemicals on porous stone as that is the quickest way to ruin somebody's shower.

The ozone is used to decompose the bleach fumes that can wreak havoc to your lungs and respiratory system. Mold also has an adverse effect to your organs. The ozone will kill surface mold spores which is why we use it in tandem with the bleach, making it safer for you to re-enter the bathroom to do the rest of your cleaning.

@AskAngelaBrown
@AskAngelaBrown 2 жыл бұрын
The investment is less than $70 USD and is a long term investment. It's also less than you would pay to repair your lungs if you ruin them. You can follow the same bleaching process without the ozone generator if no one will be occupying the house for 48 hours and you've got a well-ventilated area. They key is you don't want to be breathing the fumes in the air in the aftermath. The ozone actually decomposes or breaks the fumes down rather than just masking them with another scent or smell.

@AskAngelaBrown

The reason for the warning is many cleaners on a job will not be wearing a canister mask for the 1 shower they may be spraying in the house with less than 30 seconds of contact time. The goal is to give options for those who are going to skip steps and take shortcuts. Hopefully, holding their breath while spraying and wearing minimum PPE will keep them safe for the short duration. Not ideal, but it's the world we live in.

There are many theories about this on the internet about this being a crazy cool cleaning hack. Personally I'm not a fan of it because it's not what toilet bowl cleaner is designed for. If you have a cleaning team and they routinely use harsh chemicals unintended for the surfaces they are cleaning, you'll end up with property damage that either the cleaning company owner or the home owner has to pay to repair. Toilet bowl cleaner is often on a pH scale between a 1-2 and liquid bleach is a pH of 11-13. While both are strong chemicals one is an acid and the other is an alkaline. NOT to be used as exchange products for each other.
