Congratulations. I've also been a small engine mechanic for 50 years. So I went through all the service schools of the different companies with a diploma. Stihl, echo, husqvarna, honda, kawasak, yamaha, etc. and I've seen so many so-called good mechanics adjust carburetors so stupidly, but you know how. You must first adjust the low speed and as you did by turning the needle slowly and find the RPM select and enrich a quarter turn then do the same with the high speed needle. Also, as the 2 circuits add up at high rpm, it is essential to adjust the low speed first because if the low speed is comming more lean after adjusting the high speed, the total mixture will be too lean . CONGRATULATIONS you are the first on youtube and even in the shops that I see adjusting a carburetor in the right way!!

Greetings! To dismantle the throttle rod, it is not necessary to remove the upper cover that covers the throttle trigger and throttle block. To easily remove the rod, it is enough to set the choke control lever to the operating position, press the gas and pry the rod with a slotted screwdriver

good vid on the MS250. My 250 is a '10 model was doing the same thing and just last month I had to clean/replace pump and diaphragm. Its a tough little saw for cutting a few ricks a winter and other clearing projects around the place. Note to self when making a vid; place camera where arms/hands don't block...and turn the back ground racket off (radios).

Your 250 started a lot easier than any ms 250 I have ever owned. They have a propensity for flooding. Since yours was so lean it started easy but had no acceleration or idle. I would have replaced the fuel filter, first, and richened up the low jet a bit before jumping into the carb. If I have to go into a carb then I clean it and and replace the diaphragms. My carbs stay pretty clean because I use nothing but PNE gas and Stihl Ultra oil or Stihl Moto Mix.

I have an ms 250 and it was doing the same thing, It would run for a few seconds then begin starving like yours was doing,.. so I filled it all the way up and then it would run for a lot less time before bogging, I accidentally left the gas cap open, cranked, it and revved it up and and ran great, so I left the cap open and finished what I was doing with gas leaking out,.. brought a new gas cap and it did fix it.

Thanks. I have an older 032 AV. Thinking it's around about an 84 or 85. Mine is doing what your was doing. Sometimes it would Rev up fine but as soon as I tuch the log would just fall on its face and die. Sometimes I can make two cuts no problem Sometimes can't even start the cut. Took the carb apart had what looked like saw dust under the diaphragm. I cleaned that out. Other side looked good but I didn't know about the two jets. Might still be my problem. Seems strange that sometimes it runs like it should and sometimes nothing! Thanks

Excellent explanation on setting the H and L screws. How do you set the idle speed (LA) screw, and does adjusting the LA screw effect/require further adjustments to the H and/or L screws? Thank you!!!
@machinesnmetal
@machinesnmetal 3 жыл бұрын
You should set the LA screw last, once youve set the L and the H, all the LA screw does it press on the throttle, similar to you squeezing the trigger. Once you have the L and the H screws set, adjust the LA screw until the chain starts to move forward, then slowly back the LA screw out until the chain stops, that should be about it.

I have an ms250 that hasn’t been started for nearly a year. Can’t get it to start so I figured it was a fuel / carb issue . Disassembled and saw that the diaphragm at 8:00 has no “bounce” like yours does - it’s very thin and flimsy. This won’t work like it should right ? I figured it could be replaced but I’ve just ordered a new carby anyway, since I don’t have an ultrasonic cleaner.

not from that carb; waaaaaaaaaaay to big. it was left in the creme brulet dish I was using in the ultraSonic cleaner from a previous briggs and straton carb job, the plastic ones ontop of the tin tank. I'm glad you got it. If you have a stumble on acceleration, try turning the L screw out just a touch more, maybe 1/4-1/3 turn to richen it up a tad at idle. The extra fuel should carry the engine through the lean out when you squeeze the trigger.

Anyone know what the metering lever setting is for the Walbro car on these MS2590s? (The spring lever hightnthat the fuel metering diaphagm sits against.) Thanks. The saw is a MS250 with a (not what is above) with a Walbro WT 215 carb. the lever does not come anywhere close to the top of the body when disassembled but is well recessed. Closer inspection shows there is a slight rim cast into the body that goes around the lever tip. perhaps the set up is the same as above just using the inner casting instead of the body.
