In this video, you'll see how to make your dirty white socks like new again without having them to even scrub them!

Usually harsh chemicals ruin the threads of clothes. This method does not include any harsh chemicals that ruin the threads of your clothes.
This method can be used on any kind of white clothes that have lost its bright white color.
Bleach is quite harsh on clothing, so how can you whiten your clothing without harsh chemicals? Here’s a simple, do it yourself whitener that works like a charm.
This tip is particularly helpful to remove dingy yellowing or graying of fabric and lace articles.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:
1Jug = 1Litre
Spoonful=Tablespoon
A tablespoon of Baking Soda and Vinegar contains about 14-15 grams/ml
Vinegar 4-5% (Edible Vinegar)
Use MINERAL or SWEET water
If you're using EXTREME HARD WATER, double the quantity of vinegar and baking soda
If your socks aren't that dirty you can put more than 1 pair of socks in 1 liter of water

Next, Wash it with any good quality laundry soap, and then soak the socks in a mixture of lemon juice and water. (ratio of this mix should be 1 decent sized lemon per litre of water) But vinegar is the more recommended option, if you can get your hands on it, its better.

Will this get rid of the color? I have pink and white striped socks and I’m just wondering if I can use this method to wash the dirt off without it getting rid of the color ^^

@@kawaiibpanda6575 No, the color wont fade off, you can definitely try this with your coloured socks. Also, if possible, add a pinch of salt to the soaking water, salt will strengthen the colors.

What strength vinegar are you using? Specifications in comments include #socks= 1 pair spoonful= tablespoon Jug= 1 litre Water temp= not hot Duration= 1 to 24hrs Might want to edit the video to include important specifications. Because a jug and spoonful can mean very different things to different people for instance

@@7anoony nobody is complaining. Just asking clarifying questions and giving simple feedback on a great video. The thing is, there are different strengths of vinegar for which have different purposes with drastically different outcomes. When formulating even the simplest things (with or without vinegar), measurements impact the strength and effectiveness of the final solution.... for which changes the way you work with it. And vinegar, while it may seem like a harmless everyday household product, truth is, its a powerful substance that should never be underestimated. Not to mention, it can have harmful impacts on materials/surfaces and also humans and pets (simply by exposure) if not used intentionally. So if being responsible means I have too much time on my hands, then so be it. You'll get there.

Is this recommended for white tennis shoes with black stripes? The soles, which were white, now have a slight orange color...not realizing the use of non-colorsafe bleach was a huge mistake.

Yes this can be used, as generally, the vinegar won't do any harm to the shoes. This process will also tend to lighten the orange tint.

Don't dry them is my thought It seems that the heat of the dryer is what "sets" a stain, making it more permanent

For cotton socks baking soda is required but if they are made up of nylon or silk, only vinegar will do the job

A jug of water, 1 tablespoon of baking soda and a tablespoon of vinegar is required for one pair of socks. So just multiply this ratio for the amount of socks you need to wash.

If you have white vinegar with 4-5% concentration you can add a tbsp of it, but if it is of more concentration do not add more than 5-10 ml. You can also use apple cider vinegar, as it also has great cleaning properties. But, make sure to use less quantity of it (5-10ml) because it is stronger than white vinegar

Mix water and vinegar in equal parts and heat the mixture till it comes to a boil. Add baking soda (with caution) & any good quality dish washing liquid to it. Then put the socks inside. Let it soak for a while and then wash it, with hands or with a brush. If its a nylon type material then prevent using a brush.

It can be done, but washing the socks first then soaking them would give better results than washing after soaking.

Cold water. Hot water breaks the bonding in vinegar which disrupts its composition and affects its efficiency.

You can use lukewarm water but not hot water. As in hot water, vinegar looses its effectiveness. You can use cold, room temp. and lukewarm water.

@@gcaggn1217 you can try again, and please remember to wash them before soaking. Washing gets rid of any greases, dust and dirt beforehand, so that the baking soda and vinegar have no interference in carrying out their chemical effects to brighten socks

If the colored socks are made out of cotton, then the color will slightly fade, but the color can be saturated afterwards. When those cotton socks have been treated with vinegar and soda, and washed with water and dried off completely, soak the slightly faded socks into a salt and water solution, (about 500ml of water and a decent pinch of salt). This method will help saturate the colors of the cotton socks. But if the socks are made out of silk or nylon, then the color will remain as it is, it won't fade.
