Here is a "how to" on aluminum and alloy metal engine polishing using simple household items and your drill. I'm going to polish my entire café racer custom motorcycle engine! Awesome process for your garage builds and hot rod !
Send me stuff !
Yes- I actually do send stickers out to those who contribute bits, parts, stuff for my projects and pretty much everyone who I talk about or thank in my videos. If you want to send me bike stuff, things for potential use in videos or tools to review etc. (or even just cash donations ! )
mail them to me:
Ichiban Moto
PO Box 1362
Highland Park, IL 60035
USA
Yes- you can just buy Ichiban Moto stickers - they are on ebay. If you don't have ebay/ paypal, you may mail me a minimum donation of $1 per sticker- along with your self addressed and stamped envelope. Stickers and donations are how I fund this fun !

He's right. They had two different co2 scrubbers one square one circular - they used spacesuit parts, bits of tape and if I remember part of a clipboard to make an adapter so the circular scrubber could link up with the square scrubber filter. They wrote a whole procedure on it & called it up on R/T, so the astronauts could build it. Look in any book in any way related to Apollo 13 and you'll find details.

To reduce the overheating effects you can use distilled water on the microfibre pad. Do not use too much as this will reduce the effectiveness of the polishing compound. Hope this helps.

@@IchibanMoto Don't knock the hand drill, if you have a sharp bit and nothing else or no power they will do the job beautifully. Cut a small hole first and keep increasing the bit size until you have drilled the size required. I had an excellent German hand drill with an unusual piston grip that I called my "cordless drill" but it was too good and some mongrel stole it!!

I'm an Engineer & I must say he's getting outstanding professional results with his techniques & house-hold materials & saving ALOT of $cash. I've gotten into the habit of buying buying, so these are valuable vids. Regarding the homemade Tumblar, placing a hand sander ON overnight in a garage is risky in my opinion, if the bucket & sander crashes down & sander rubs up against something causing friction & high heat that could easily start a fire. Most garages don't have a smoke detector.

Cheaper using a ultrasonic set up in the long run from a old £5 sander & 2 buckets suspended in the air using cat litter as the abrasive material, bit noisey but it does not make a mess & £5 of cat litter would do 6 months work with no dirty rags or hands. just drop it in & leave it up to the cat litter.

Autosol and a rag is the best product I've seen for restoring metal in that condition. A few wipes and it's back to shiny.

+Ichiban Moto I just don't believe it...too funny. You put on safety glasses and a face shield to use a hand operated drill with a handmade buffing pad. Come on man you cut the video and polished it by hand. 😂😂 entertaining anyway.

great idea. couple quesrions. why not a power drill on a slow/low speed? do you think it would work on aluminum muffler cans for an old vfr? can some/all scratches on a muffler be polished out like this or another way?

I just use a wire wheel to knock off the pitting then to polish and finish I use a high grade grit scotch write pad which gives it a marvelous glow. During all this I coat the part etc with pb blaster helps aid in removing heavy oxidation.
