Here's a useful method to clean brass, copper, and other metals easily and quickly.
Using a pad of steel wool, scrub the dirty metal surface. To get a cleaner result, use some cream cleaner.
This method removes rust, oxidation, and other dirt from metals.

A good idea on solid brass - but be very careful with plated brass (thin layer you can find plated brass because a magnet sticks to it), if you use more than a cloth with slight abrasive qualities, you'll remove the brass plating!
