A quick and super easy way to repair and clean CD/DVD laser lens. This video demonstrates the use of CD/DVD laser lens cleaning disk manufactured by Phillips. The dry brush cleaning system safely removes dust, debris and other contaminants from the CD/DVD players laser lens, leaving it clean and performing optimally.

A good tutorial on a how to. I recently have been having the disk error in my van and it kicks the disk back out. So I come online to see what my choices are for cleaning the disk player. Seems there are a few versions to the same result. I decided to just go out and use something I already had. Computer spray duster! My player is now working fine again. Don't know how long for, but it is working!

wait so did you just spray the stuff into the cd slot all willy nilly or did u have to take apart the cd player?

@@DaisyHead666 No Willies involved, and no taking anything apart! Use something like a ball point pen to hold the door open. Doo not poke the pen inside! Take your can of spray (preferably) energized equipment duster and spray all around as much as possible. But concentrate directly forward to where the laser head is. It's been 3 plus years now and I haven't had any issues. Have fun.

Great video! I always wondered how a cd cleaned a drive like that... Need to get one never cleaned my DVD-Drive before in 6 years! (integrated in computer).

Cleaner sounds like a chain saw. Ty for the tutorial. I’m using an Endust. No audio but it’s going. (No chain saw sound.) Sure hope it works.

So what would happen if I just let the entire disc play from start to finish without skipping the tracks?

My computer's DVD player has been skipping badly. The discs are a bit scratched, but had been playing fine. Would cleaning the laser lens fix this?

great instructions. However, I am trying to clear the lens on my Wii. I don't think there is anywhere there are video instructions on the screen to help me along. do you know anything about that?

I don't know what is wrong with my dvd drive, it reads all disks as blank when I know they're not. Do you think it has something to do with the lens?

Probably not but it wouldn't hurt to try, it has been my experience that when a laser lens is dirty the drive just doesn't read at all. I think the scratches are more the blame

what if it says no disc inside the drive even if the their is a disc inside. is it still a good idea to use the optical drive cleaner or should I just get a new cdrom

I got one from the Dollar store that looks exactly the same and also has a little tube of liquid with it that smells like alcohol. It also plays music and is in multiple languages. But, it only allows me to burn a few discs before it doesn't work anymore. Is there another way to clean the lens besides using this cleaning disc?

I got one of those and it does help. But I think my DVD player is shot. May be someone else out there can tell me. I put this disk in and it plays fine. I take a DVD movie store bought not burned. Play it and it stops sputters and hangs up. So I tore into the unit and cleaned it with alcohol. Used a soft Tee shirt, like the one's used in these video's. I got the DVD player to work. But when it tries to record it goes back into the spit sputters and hangs up.

my optical drives were doing the same thing as yours before you cleaned it i am wondering if that means if the lens is bad or dirty because there new but they are oem and i dont think i can use a disk cleaner if software is needed because i cant install my os because of the optical drive so now my computer newly built is without an os until i can get the optical drive working or replace it

if your internal DVD drive doesn't work I fitted an external disc reader writer woks fine. get you restarted

Can I get this product at any store that has an electronics section? I am wondering this because the nearest speciality store is a 1 to 2 hour drive from my apartment, while the nearest wall mart is around a 10 to 15 minute drive.

i got problems. Some dvds work sometimes, some don't. I can put 1 disk in- it works fine, eject it and put it in again it doesn't play. Drivers are up to date. Region is 1 USA. safmode disks play, normal mode drive has problems. any ideas? I'll get a disc cleaner and see if this helps, don't really want to take apart computer to get at lens :(

Yeah...I tried a different movie and it played fine. So it was the scratches on Ghostbusters...snff...waaaaaaaa! I only got to see 6 minutes of one of my faves!

Just a hint you keep saying drive it's called a lens inside and you can use a drop or two or alcohol it has to be 99 percent to help get stubbornness of cleaning I always try this method of cleaning them sometimes the discs your using needs a through cleaning or buffing that's why it don't run right just a hint make sure that you let it dry inside too

Chances are you do not have the right CODECS to play DVD.s I suggest downloading and installing a free player like gomlab dot com that include a lot of codec that should fix you problem
