I ment to say 5th gear 60mph 40-50 minutes at 2,250 RPM for a proper passive regen, and it was the dpf sensor you might need to remove to access the O2 sensor on the DPF also might have to remove DPF heat shield

I really enjoy my passat, and the fuel milage is great, and also understand that there is always something on cars that will need attention at some point. However, when i add up the money for the car. Parts and the amount of time i spend on it, i can't see where im ever getting ahead owning one. Ive never known a vw that didn't always require attention. And this dpf system that vw was forced to install is such a garbage way to do things with the def fill in the trunk so it leaks everywhere and turns a salty white acid eating powder when it dries. That part rhe dealership managed to skip over before i signed the paperwork. And feel like i have a car that was built with whatever pieces they could find to hopefully make a car out of. But i appreciate your time and video it was very helpful.

So whiny. 1st off, learn to fill the Def properly. It's not rocket science. All of the 2.5 gallon boxes come with a flex hose that easily reaches the DEF opening. Second, the DPF doesn't need a ton of maintenance. I've had my car for 175k and haven't had an issue with the DPF.

Pretty good video. Thanks for posting this. I have a 2012 Volkswagen Jetta sportwagen TDI. It has 85,000 mi on it and the emission system is all gunked up with soot. I guess driving it on surface streets more than the highway is bad for the emissions system .I have the check engine light on and also the DPF light on. I even had it scoped at a mechanic and they gave me the report showing that I needed to have the whole system cleaned or replaced for $5,000. I tried this technique you have in the video and it didn't work, however I attribute that to my system being clearly very dirty. It did improve the white smoke that would belch out when I would first start my car, but the check engine light is still on after 200 miles. So I will have to try something else. But one thing that should be mentioned is that the upper O2 sensor needs a special 7/8 inch or 22 mm socket with a split in it so you can actually remove the O2 sensor.

Great video brother. If you get a stainless steel drinking straw and attach it to the end of the plastic hose, you won’t have the risk of melting 👍
@sextillionproductions
@sextillionproductions Ай бұрын
The only reason I didn't do that is because the tip of the plastic nozzle has the multi jet head that sprays the cleaner in different directions blasting off all the soot inside with great pressure and I found it easier to move the plastic nozzle all around front and back of the inside of the DPF for a thorough cleaning. But it is a great Idea to use the stainless steel tube I would just try to figure out a way to make it flexible and put a nozzle on the end of the tube so it has the same thorough jet cleaning effect as the plastic one that comes with the cleaner. 👍

Use the links to support the channel by buying anything you need off Amazon. Yes you can, all you have to do is use an OBD2 reader to see the regeneration turn on or off in real time while driving having the OBD2 reader connected to the vehicle with a co-pilot monitoring the regeneration procedure on the tablet, also it will check for any issues with the vehicle. I recommend the thinkCar - M70 OBD2 reader amzn.to/3tvttKd or the Autel Maxisys ultra EV scanner amzn.to/3tvtZI9 Any good tablet reader from either company is fine, you just have to check its capabilities for what you need it to perform such as viewing regeneration cycles turning on and off live while you drive. The procedure stays the same except you will have to keep the speed exactly the same as if you were using cruise control any sudden stopping or speeding up will turn off the regeneration as you will see on the OBD monitor.

I have the same problem, but can't open the bloody sensors so i was wondering if i could shove a long pipe from the exhaust pipe all the way to the dpf and spray the stuff from the back to unclog the dpf. Could this work ?
@sextillionproductions
@sextillionproductions Жыл бұрын
You have to remove the heat shield from the DPF, remove the DPF "pressure sensor" (should be a little black box), and unplug the DPF "O2 sensor" from the wire harness, ((should be metal and screwed into the DPF), my wireharness connector was orange), then you should have enough room, to unscrew the metal DPF O2 sensor from the DPF. If all else fails then they sell a socket made especially just to remove that DPF O2 sensor. Once the pipes are ripping hot you don't want the plastic hose from the can melting in the exhaust. That's why you have to put the hose in through the DPF sensor hole. You have to take out the sensor to spray then put back the sensor and rip it again. That's why I would not recommend risking an injury trying to disassemble and reassemble the exhaust burning hot between spraying

Hi thanks for the video. I tried what you described. I am wondering why I never saw any white smoke coming out the muffler. No smoke. I never also didn't know if I was supposed to put the hose in and move it around. I just inserted at almost all the way. After driving i have not seen any positive results. Also, the vehicle never went into regen after the drive. I am assuming I would hear the fan running after I parked, nothing like that happened. Any suggestions? I obviously could take it to the mechanic, which Ive done already prior. They said replace cats. I'm thinking last ditch effort to go to the muffler shop and remove the cats to clean them

Yes you can use this on a DPF that does not use DPF fluid as well. There are heavy metals that build up in the DPF after 40,000 miles so you have to flush it using the cleaner to get them out. Even if you can get the light to go away reving it, the heavy metals will only continue to quickly clog your filter again since the heavy metals are not able to be removed by reving. That's why you have to flush out the heavy metals with a cleaner to remove the heavy metals because reving the engine will not remove the heavy metals.

Check the EGR flow and clean the EGR if it needs cleaning due to soot build up. Check with an OBD2 reader for all codes and to check when the regeneration turns on and off while driving because pressing the break or fuel pedal will stop the regeneration procedure. Check DPF pressure sensor (little black box) sometimes there are cracks in the hoses that could give off the DPF light, also check Dpf O2 sensor make sure all sensors are in proper working condition. And check for any obstructions with the Catalytic converter along with the exhaust pipe check for any bends or kinks from driving that might obstruct the airflow. Also check the air filter to make sure it's clean, if not I would recommend changing the Air filter for a new one. Air leaks and Glow plugs not working are a big contribution to DPFs getting clogged after cleaning.

So let me get this clear. You firstly prepped everything(took shield off, unscrewed the O2 sensor, etc) - cold engine, then drove the car till it got up to 190 water temp, turned the engine off, injected 4 cans trough the O2 sensor hole, plugged back the sensor back and drove it more on cruise/manual mode round 2500rpm for a good period of time?
@sextillionproductions
@sextillionproductions 10 ай бұрын
With engine Cold you unscrew O2 sensor and leave it in the DPF only finger tight so it is easy to remove when everything is ripping hot 🔥. You should rewatch the video to see all the steps and proper way to inject each can. You do not inject all 4 cans at once. You need to watch the video your missing alot of important information. It's 2,250 RPM and it has to be driven for 40-50 minutes cruise control/manual mode and if you have a OBD reader that can show when the DPF regen goes on and off you will see the DPF regen turns off whenever you speed up or press the break. You can not touch the accelerator or the break pedal at all during the regen because if you do it will turn it off. There's alot of details the manufacturer explained that I put in the video that need to be followed accordingly to ensure a successful regeneration of the DPF. Watch the video as much as you need so you understand the whole process and steps required. You can also put on the captions to understand clearly. Follow the directions as prescribed in the video and you should have a successful regeneration of the heavy metals that clog the DPF. Regular regeneration happens all the time driving regularly but this process is a 40-50 minutes long Drive because your doing a special regeneration to remove heavy metals that build up in the DPF every 40,000 miles and can not be removed from the DPF with regular regeneration. I recommend to drive the full 50 minutes after following all the steps and procedures according to the video. Also check if the EGR is clean. If the EGR is dirty (filled up with soot clogging up the walls of the EGR) you should clean it.

Thank you for explaining I'm sorry if I'm asking a stupid question
@sextillionproductions
@sextillionproductions 4 ай бұрын
P2002: says it's a clog in your exhaust filter and the engine wants to try and clean the clog. P0401: Exhaust Gas Recirculation (EGR) air flow is insufficient Detected. Both codes require cleaning. 1. First code requires DPF and catalytic converter cleaning which can be cleaned by using the DPF cleaner and instructions in the the video. 2. Second code requires you to clean the EGR. You may find it easier to remove the EGR and clean it safely, rather than use spray cleaners for the EGR while the car is running due to the possibility of a Diesel Engine Runaway that could kill your engine permanently. I recommend to remove the EGR and clean it safely away from the car. Then once cleaned reinstall the EGR. Every 40,000 miles there are heavy metals that accumulate in the DPF which require a DPF cleaner to remove that's the purpose of this video. I also recommend checking your EGR every 40,000 miles to make sure it's clean before cleaning the DPF with the DPF and exhaust cleaner. This happens every 40,000 miles so I would recommend cleaning first and if after cleaning your still experiencing issues then as a last resort I would purchase new parts. To save you money I would try cleaning everything before purchasing new parts because this is going to happen every 40,000 miles even if the parts are new.

@sextillionproductions
@sextillionproductions 4 ай бұрын
@@mrvic92154 It's cheaper to clean the DPF and the EGR than to replace both of them. Clean the EGR away from the car then clean the DPF. When the DPF is dirty, sometimes there is soot at the end of the exhaust. If after cleaning, it does not pass smog, then you know it's cracked. Either way if you had brand new parts you still have to clean the EGR and DPF every 40,000 miles. So even if the parts are bad you will get good practice to clean the new parts when the new parts are due for a cleaning. If it does pass smog than you just saved a ton of money 💰, time, and labor. Also if your engine was ruined you would get a code telling you on the OBD Reader. If your worried about the engine scan it with the OBD reader.

What’s a good way to determine if the DPF is to far gone?
@sextillionproductions
@sextillionproductions 5 ай бұрын
First perform the DPF cleaning and regeneration. If the soot and ash are too hard and they can not be cleaned it needs to be replaced. That's why forced regeneration at shops can't guarantee 100% successful cleaning because if it's too hard and cant be cleaned you have to replace the DPF. If it was able to be cleaned at the shop through forced regeneration than you could have cleaned it yourself with the DPF cleaning cans and regeneration. You could save money and wear and tear on your vehicle from the shop removing the whole dpf and reinstalling it, if you just clean the DPF yourself.

Anyway, unfortunately this method didn't work for me. I did stop the engine and put each can in and then replace the o2 sensor and drive around for a while. For what ever reason It made the car even worse and had to get it towed home not long after I put the last can in and was going on the 60 mile drive. Both forced regeneration and regular driving 2500 rpm regeneration burn the soot off. It's every 40,000 miles that you need to clean the DPF because of heavy metals that accumulate in the DPF and can not be burned off during regeneration. Even if you can get it to go off with regeneration after 40,000 miles the heavy metals accumulated will clog up the DPF quickly and reduce air flow. The purpose of the cleaner is to get out those heavy metals so the regular regeneration will continue to provide a larger air flow while burning off the soot efficiently.

Did you have to wear gloves to remove the sensor?

I first disassembled everything and removed the sensor cold 🥶 then gently screw the sensor back in (gently finger tight) so you can easily remove it when the DPF is ripping hot to spray the cleaner. Your supposed to use a tool 🔧 to loosen it and wearing gloves would help tremendously but if you don't have anything I did it myself with no gloves and just kept it Finger tight super loose so you could take it out to spray the cleaner by just holding the sensor by the wire harness as not to burn my fingers and gently twist to not hurt the wires. They are thick gage wires so no damage was done and the sensor came off and on easily gently twisting to install and Uninstall to spray the cleaner.
