Simple Green works wonders on cleaning the cabinet, particularly on the glass door. I usually only use one grate at a time a put it in the sink. I also take a green 3 M scrubby and polish the thermo couple or the interior temp probe.

@@TheAmericanSmoke maybe you could come up with a tutorial on how to use the smoke IT app. That’s my big problem area. I notice also notice that the plastic on the controller panel, where you turn it on and off, has bubble in a crease straight across the face.

I agree this needs to be cleaned on a regular basis. But you can do it with much less hassle. Soak the racks and the base plate in a big tub or large sink with hot water and dawn dish soap. After a couple of hours the grunge wipes off. I use simple green on the inside walls and Windex on the glass. Simple Green is no toxic so I don't worry about chemical residue

Seems like you could put aluminum foil on the drip pan and just cut the slots needed. It would make cleaning easier. And does abrasive degreaser scratch the glass of the smoker?
@TheAmericanSmoke
@TheAmericanSmoke 3 жыл бұрын
I've used foil a few times. It works pretty good. I have also put a tin foil pain under what I'm cooking to catch the fat which works even better. I get lazy sometimes though and forget to take those extra steps. I figured there were a lot of people like me, so I made this video the way I did. I plan on making a preventative video soon to show ways to keep the cooker cleaner through more cooks. Any suggestions would be great. The glass is tempered, so I have had no issues with scratching. Thanks for watching my video and for commenting. It would be great to have you as a subscriber. Thanks!!!

I've been smoking for years and just acquired one of these exact models. I tend to do large quantities (i.e. 7 pork butts at once). I have only used it once and currently have a grease trail running from the legs. What would have caused this, and how would I mitigate such an outcome? Previously I've used LP, BTW.

My first thought is to make sure your grease collection tray is all the way back up against the back wall. Well, the little handle looking part anyway.

No problems with rusting using water? Should you spray with oil afterwards when it’s dry?
@TheAmericanSmoke
@TheAmericanSmoke 3 жыл бұрын
I haven’t had any problems with rust. All the metal is coated in one way or another. Worst thing you could probably do is to use something highly abrasive to clean with. It wouldn’t hurt to spray with some cooking oil for sure. I do that from time to time for good measure. Great questions. Thanks for watching my video and for commenting. It would be great to have you as a subscriber. Thanks!!!

So when you clean the inside walls of the smoker every few cleans, do you use just soap/water or the Fast Orange?
@TheAmericanSmoke

Hey! I don't clean my inside walls. Haven't yet anyway. I'm about to do a tutorial on how to do it though. I keep my racks, grease tray, ash pot, grease trough, and glass cleaned every few cooks. I have had a lot of people recommend mean green as a good non toxic cleaner. That's what I will be using in my tutorial video. Here is a link so you can check it out.amzn.to/2Z6mojC I also made a 2nd video on how to clean your smoker where I used some recommendations from viewers. You may like it as well. @TheAmericanSmoke

Depends on the intensity. New units will have some ash make it’s way into the chamber. Not super heavy though. That usually gets better with use, as the ash tends to clog up the openings where’s it’s getting in.

Do you ever move your water pan up higher on the racks for longer smokes to get the water to last longer? I read in the manual you can do that but am wondering how? I guess you would loose the bottom two racks if you did?
@TheAmericanSmoke
@TheAmericanSmoke 3 жыл бұрын
I’ve never done that but you definitely could. Prob only lose one rack. For me, It’s too easy to just dump a little extra water in there though. Make sure it’s hot water so not to mess with the chamber temp though. Thanks for watching my video and for commenting. It would be great to have you as a subscriber. Thanks!

@@TheAmericanSmoke how do you do overnight smokes? Is it ok to just let it run dry at the end?
@TheAmericanSmoke
@TheAmericanSmoke 3 жыл бұрын
Oh yea. I don’t even use the water tray sometimes. Just make sure it’s clean. When I’m doing overnight cooks I always get up and check it at least once. I put water in then. It’s always good practice to get up and check it. I had an auger jam one night on a big butt and my fire pot went out. Luckily I caught it and was able to remedy the situation and get the smoke rolling again.

I've seen for other models they say to use a shop vac to get out any extra debris from the smoke pot area. Have you done this or is it not needed on this particular model?
@TheAmericanSmoke
@TheAmericanSmoke 3 жыл бұрын
Hey! Thanks for the watch and comment. I think it would depend on the moisture amount. It comes out completely dry light ash. If you dump it out soon after a cook it's no problem. Depends on how neat you like your stuff. Make sure the ash is extinguished. Let me know if you have any other questions. It would be great to have you as a subscriber as well. Thanks!!!
