I just wanted to mention I watched an Olga Soby "How to Clean Silicone off Acrylic Pour" from Feb 28, 2020 where she gave the formula for the barrier made up of gloss gel medium which calls for "2 parts gel with water", which is different from your 50-50 formula. So, I asked her for clarification just to be sure I had it right. She replied that the formula she uses is 2 parts gel medium to one part water (so not a 50:50 mixture). Perhaps she has changed her formula from when you first got your formula from her, but I thought put in this tidbit. Thanks so much! I have learned so much from your videos!

Hi there, I though this video was helpful. I have been using only rubbing alcohol without the water mixture. Luckily, I have not damaged the artworks that I fell in love with. I use epoxies for all my wood products, and when I made a few coasters as Christmas gifts, I noticed the fisheyes. A car painter told me to use the alcohol mixture to remove the oils off of the canvases. I wish I noticed your video sooner. Thanks! MoJo :)

You can also use a clear coat spray of mini wax poly acrylic before you resin. Yes they make a spray can as well as the canned version. That works too but I hate the process of brushing it on three coats worth. I wash my canvas down with dawn dishsoap too. That works as well. You will always have a little color on your paper towel when you dry it off. It’s okay it doesn’t effect the outcome. I use the method you have shown too J Mo it works very well too. In the end I don’t use silicone very often anymore because it’s a pain in the butt!! Lol good tips my friend.

@aetheress

You can clean those spots and then re-resin over them. Just a little drop in each pock mark.

Thanks for sharing. I have taped the back of my tiles before resin, however I ended up with a tile with drips over the tape, which I couldn't then remove. If I try to take the tape off before the resin is set up hard, I leave fingerprint on the tile where I needed to pick it up to take the tape off. How do you remove the tape from a tile after the resin is cured ?
@samantharieu7795

Carefully use a heat gun to heat up the tape on the back of the tile & it will peel right off.

Is it possible to be satisfied with cleaning the surface of the painting before pouring the resin with baby wipes and water added to the glass polish in the ratio of half to half Thank you so much
@JMoPainting
@JMoPainting 3 жыл бұрын
You can do that. Be sure that you hold your artwork up to the light and look for any shiny spots. If it is a matte finish and it still has shiny spots that is oil and it will reject your resin or varnish. You might have to repeat the process a couple times, I have to do it a few times to get all the oil off sometimes.

Why are you not using undiluted alcohol or windex? Do you need to do this if you're going to varnish and not resin?
@ArtworkBySuzy
@ArtworkBySuzy 11 ай бұрын
Undiluted alcohol will reactivate the paint. It will become sticky and might even start smearing.

I probably should but I don’t when cleaning. Maybe for the last once over to remove oils I’ll wear them so the oils from my hands don’t cause the resin to dimple or reject. But for the most part I do not wear gloves to clean

Hi, I think I should have watched this video before I painted. I did an acrylic pour with me adding treadmill silicone to the white color. So I painted my wooden letter and let it dry. Then I put ART RESIN on it. Guess what happened? The resin didn't stick to where I had the silicone. What can I do now?? I'm so upset. I just didn't think about it. Please help...
